Is Dak unpopular because it is now a passing league?

Teams have accumulated film on what Dak is good at, and now are getting film on where Cooper can burn you...Things will be getting very interesting come December, for sure...and we will all go stone faced or have a smile on our face. I'm not holding my breath on game plans and executions from half times.

But we shall see...

What film? Our opponents don't need to see our tendencies on film. We are so predictable in our playcalling that defenders know our plays before we snap the ball. Predictability is our biggest enemy. We have no element of surprise or any kind of advantage when it comes to playcalling.

Just watch. If Dak leads the team to a victory against the Saints next Thursday night, more excuses will come out against him.
Plain and simple, Dak is not the QB many fans want win or lose. Even though the team is winning, they look for flaws in his game. You have a QB in his third year doing his best to make an outdated, predictable offensive scheme work that no other QB not even a 12 year veteran could win with.

Dak could throw 5 interceptions, no TDs, with a 33% completion percentage, while the defense/ST scores 4 TDs and Zeke goes over 200 yards rushing and you guys would be talking about how Dak led the team to a win.
Lol. Love how it eats you up!

Your post was a spot-on textbook example of what a strawman is, lol.
Would it make you feel better if I just called you stupid and said you have no clue about what you are talking about so you can continue an argument for 40+ pages due to someone's OPINION?

Interesting. Very sad, but interesting none the less.

In any case, if you would like to provide an intelligent and thoughtful response, I will be more than happy to participate. But if you want to continue throwing the generic insults, then you will no longer need to worry about any "strawman", "windbag" responses on this particular interaction. Unlike some, I do not need to get the last word in for a pointless and repetitive disagreement.

Since I'm sure you will respond with yet another one line insult, then I will just say, I hope you have a good night.

The disturbing thing is that the cowboys coaching staff has such irresponsibility and a lack of proper reasoning, that they put kellen moore as 'QB coach' without a single day of experience . Not as a highschool coach, nor as a college assistant .

Abosolutely zero experience .
& people are doubtful of his 'mechanics' ?... LOOK AT THIS COACH !
the same things said about him in college are still present, but I agree with questioning why Kellen Moore is the QB coach.

If I’m going to argue with someone it would be over points that person and I are discussing, rather then the points you make up on my behalf only to knock down.

Lol, gotta love how you build up the strawman of supposed takes I never made and then transition “But unlike you...” as if anything you addressed actually came from me.

BTW, one more point, sometimes QBs do get worse after playing more games. There is a psychological element to the game, and Dak admitted it himself that, that Atlanta game had an negative effect on him. Also there is a psychological effect of getting hit, which is why once a quarterback develops a fear of getting hit, you can't use them anymore. Lets hope that the last Atlanta game Dak has overcome the effect of the previous one.
I agree about regression. There have been qbs that have gotten worse.

See , this is the point.

The Chiefs got rid of Alex Smith for a reason!!!

The Chiefs were a playoff team last year and they still got rid of their "good enough" QB because they wanted to win!!

Dak Prescott is a QB that will never be able to get over the hump against the good teams.
Just look at this year against winning team's.

Why can't fans understand this?

We're already chalking up the Saints game as a loss because they have a better QB so why would we beat anyone else in the playoffs?

The Chiefs made the right call when they upgraded the most important position on their team. Mahomes didn't just magically land on their roster, they moved up to draft him!
They could have said "gee, Alex is good enough to win he's gotten us to the playoffs multiple times" but they knew there was only so much a bus driver could do against good teams.

On top of all that , Dak has a top 5 Defense , top 5 running game , and we barely eek out wins against bad team's!

It's only going to get worse if Jerry pays the man because you will have to go cheap on defense and does anyone trust Dak to win with Romo type defenses?
Interesting and good point.

Dak isn't popular because he has regressed up until the past few games, has issues with phantom pressure, and makes some bad decisions with the football.

Accuracy issues. Holds the ball too long, both for not hitting players out of their breaks, and taking sacks.

But, Linehan won't let Dak be Dak. We don't make the most of what Dak is, trying to make him something he is not. Dak shouldn't get grief for not excelling in a system not designed to help *him* excel.

It’s now a passing league, high flying league. It’s not “sexy” to run the ball. Smash mouth football is dying and the NFL set-up the game with new rules for Fantasy Footballers / Fan Duelers to make it exciting to throw for 500 yards a game and end up with a final score of 54-51.

The new generation of football fans don’t understand the advantage of a power run offense and controlling the clock. So, Dak isn’t popular because he’s not a gunslinger. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, fans these days just want to see long bomb throws all day and don’t care if they go 0-16 while doing it.
:huh::huh::huh::huh::huh::huh::huh: :huh:

that's just part of it - to many Dak will always be a R4 pick by JJ, hated by extension, usually along with JG and Linehan
kinda like many treated Romo for years

also Dak is a huge target for player haters - he's QB of the Dallas Cowboys

The majority of casual football fans dont understand football, or the QB position. Most morons think you can just go out and find Tom Brady. OR that Tom Brady does it all on his own. Or they think that Brady doesnt throw picks or overthrow receivers.

Others actually think that rookie QB's get worse as they gain more experience.
This is some blind fandom BS right here. First off unless you've coached then it doesn't matter if you're a casual or lifelong fan you don't anything about the position either. Secondly Dak is a 3rd year starter who's still making the same mistakes that are easily correctable, like not taking dumb sacks when you're in scoring range. The reason Dak is unpopular is because he routinely under/over throws his WRs when they're open, and he has horrible pocket awareness.

I could see how someone can make the statement that my response was long for a simple "If we could replace Romo for Dak I’d do it in a heartbeat.", but despite it's simplicity, there is a lot there that I addressed.

First, I discussed how so many wish said former player/coach still was on the team.
  • So I pointed out how silly and pointless your post was to begin with.
Second, I pointed out how every player has strengths and weaknesses.
  • While not directly mentioned in the particular post I quoted, I think it is safe to say that you do not believe, or at least refuse to admit, that Dak has any strengths whatsoever.
  • Then I went to point out how that if one has just a hint of perspective, one would realize that all players make good plays and all players make bad plays ala Jeff Heath.
Lastly, despite the pointless statement you made, I wanted to show that overall, it was not stupid conclusion.
  • I think anyone who would look at it objectively would have Tony Romo starting over Dak Prescott right now, obviously if Tony could stay healthy.
  • But I do not agree with your, what is IMO, agenda driven reasoning, and that the same conclusion could be made with very different reasoning behind it.
I apologize for not addressing every little post you make on this forum, as I do not have the time or patience for it, but I do read quite a lot throughout the day. So to act like I made anything up and that I addressed something that you have not made perfectly clear is forgetful at best, and flat out deceitful at worst.

If you prefer for the people you quote to not remember or address anything that you have stated or made perfectly clear by your many posts, then I would suggest that you no longer quote my entries.

Thanks.

I’m a fan of any player that helps us win. I don’t think Dak is a good NFL QB, but You can bet I’m rooting for him every game. I want him to be great, even if he can’t be. I don’t dislike the guy. How could you? He has a great personality and wants to be a great QB.

There seems to be people on cz who are of the opinion that if someone criticises Daks play they are "haters". I cannot for the life of me understand this mentality. It is perfectly possible to have an opinion on a mans play without "hating" him, i wonder if this "hater" term is there to deflect reasonable criticism of the player. Dak is from what i have seen a very decent bloke and i'm sure if i met him in the pub i would enjoy a pint with him.
As the QB of the Cowboys however he is a limited option. His general QB play against the Commanders was average, the problems with accuracy still plague him and he is still having the pocket awareness problems that have dogged him for some time now.
Dak in this team will win games, we all know that. The question however has not changed, will the Cowboys win a championship with Dak?
My heart says yes but my eyes and head say no.
A new coaching staff may help but it looks like garrett will stay on with every win.
I fear we will be having the same conversation this time next year.
