Garrett's Locker Room Tears: Is it good or bad?

First of all, this is not a bash Garrett thread. Let's have intelligent discussion. To those of you who have played sports or ever had a coach of any kind, is it good or bad that Garrett cries in front of the team after practically every win? I ask because men tend to perceive crying as weakness. I can tell that they all love Garrett. I also heard about Landry and Parcells crying on rare occasions. I know they were both highly respected. The situation with Gallup is understandable, but Garrett cries over everything. As a woman, I think it"s awesome, but what do you men (and women) think? Can a leader of men cry a lot and be successful?

They were probably tears of joy. Jerry probably had just whispered in his ear that the 10 year extension was being drawn up as he speaks.

Isn’t it his first Thanksgiving since losing his dad? Between that and the Gallup situation I’m sure he was very emotional.

Does anyone think Garrett would make a great GM? It seems he knows how to get the right players and connect with them. Team is homegrown and most players clearly view the team and Coach Garrett as family. Just thought I’d throw that out there I wonder if the Jones’ would ever consider it.

It's emotion it's what happens. Listen I'm 41 I play semi-pro football against guys half my age. after we won our 1st game I lost it I couldn't stop crying and the kids 18-19 years old didn't understand. I told them enjoy this time because you never know when it's going to be over. But at the same time I do love I get to pound on these young kids

I don’t know that I’ve seen Garrett cry before. I’ve seen him get choked up a few times, but it’s always been at something like this, where the context makes it obvious and appropriate.

It’s not like he’s Dick Vermeil out there, crying when a challenge flag isn’t upheld or anything.

It was appropriate considering that it happened after he mentioned families and the fact that his Dad passed away just his year.

If he does it every week, that would become a joke at some point.

I think Belichick was on the verge of tears at one point in the 30-for-30 "Two Bills".

Anyway crying is ok if not an act.
Knowing Jason he probably practiced crying all week then played the cry card to motivate the team.

But it doesnt matter what we think about it, what matters is how the players perceived it , and did it change their motivations.

Landry did use the cry card at one point, and he cried and blamed himself for failing the team and players after they lost a big
game , and the players responded by becoming the winners that went to 2 SB's.

In Garrett’s case, crying over Gallup’s tragedy is appropriate (even comendable). But crying over everything is stomach-turning.
