Dak WILL NOT play out his rookie contract. He WILL get some sort of extension.

Had to get this off my chest because I keep seeing people post about how Dak has 1 year left on his deal. Unless both Dak and his Agent suddenly get brain damage there is 0% chance he plays on a 1 year $840K contract. To me this is just common sense and needs to be put out there so we can discuss the cap and future plans with reason.

Dak does not strike me as the type to hold out. I also thought I read that Dak makes about $5M/yr on endorsements.

Favre never wanted to come out of a game. He got his chance to play due to an injury to the starting QB in Atl at the time. Favre realized early on that some guy on the bench could take his job at any time if Favre got hurt or did not play. Qbs on the bench can catch lightning in a bottle and the rest is history. Last thing Dak would want is for him to hold out and some other QB comes in and has success.

Dak will get paid, and most likely by Jerry. I don't understand all this fascination with Dak and his future salary. If Dak plays well, he will get paid. He has the best job in football right now, QB of the Dallas Cowboys.

Dak does not seem the type to hold out either. If no offer or agreement is forth coming. He will play on the $840,000 contract.
He knows Jerry will pay him, but also he has the work ethic to continue to improve regardless of the contract status.

I just want him to prove he deserves that contract over these last 5 games, or more like at least 7 games if not 8. :D

Jerry said a few days ago that they hope to reach a contract extension with Dak and Amari this off season.

Two of the highest profile jobs in America, if not the world, behind being the President of the United States. Is the HC and the QB of the Dallas Cowboys.

I would bet more people can name Garrett and Prescott over the Vice President.
And throw Jerry in that mix as well, since he puts himself in front of the cameras more so did Murchinson or Bright.

The problem is not when to pay him but what to pay him. He is not top 15 QB in this league. I see a big number but not a big guarantee.

Here's the deal...we had a much better QB in Romo. Where did that get us? We could win with Dak with better management and coaching. We all know that is not going to change.

I get your sentiment that Jerry is likely to extend him, but it is possible he has to play out that 5th year. If the Cowboys struggle down the road and Dak looks like he did early in the season, he can't really afford to sit out next year. Who is going to offer him big money in 2020 after an uneven 2018 and sitting out in 2019?

He'll have to play and he's the kind of confident kid that would gamble on himself.

@Number1 Made a great point about wanting to see Dak make a playoff run before giving him any type of big money.

That really needs to be taken into consideration when paying Dak because if he doesn't have success on his rookie deal then what will happen if Jerry does what he did with Romo and pays him like he's won a Superbowl.

When Garrett is your coach, even with Romo, then your overall talent is extremely important and you can't pay a QB like Dak who hasn't done anything in his rookie contract a big deal and expect to compete with a lesser team around him.

Russell Wilson won a Superbowl with a great team around him and even Wilson isn't good enough to do anything without the squad around him. Only the elite guys with elite coaches will have success when the team is cap strapped to a QB.

The Joe Flacco's of the NFL will not and Dak is closer to Joe Flacco then he is an Elite QB.

Hold out lol he's not that stupid. But if he's smart he'll take whatever contact he's offered i would Guess 15 mil a year. No won else would pay him 10 mil a year.

That's silly and just untrue. You don't think a team like Jacksonville wouldn't pay him 10 million a year, haha that's just foolish

That might be but if the Cowboys were smart, they would make him. I know the key word is smart and it should not be used in the same sentence with this FO.

Welcome to the next overpaid Dallas Cowboy

As Jerry said after the Cooper trade, a lot of his great successful deals he overpaid. So what if Dak is overpaid. If he is successful at Qb, it will not matter. The cap is not a big deal any more. Cowboys have plenty of cap to sign the players they want to sign.

he will get 18-20 mil per year over 5 years..its the going rate ie Market for starting QB..big time QBs are getting 26-31 per ,its not delusional to think Dak gets 18-20 at all..

That backup in Chicago has played like 3 games in his career or something like that and make 7mil , foles also 7-8mil as clipboard holders that barely EVER play.. so a guy who has what won 29 games so far in 2 plus years isn't going to get 18-20, he will.. regardless of what we think, thats the rate..
