Dak WILL NOT play out his rookie contract. He WILL get some sort of extension.

Had to get this off my chest because I keep seeing people post about how Dak has 1 year left on his deal. Unless both Dak and his Agent suddenly get brain damage there is 0% chance he plays on a 1 year $840K contract. To me this is just common sense and needs to be put out there so we can discuss the cap and future plans with reason.
Disagree with you, this isn't a fact it is a opinion, it will not be a fact unless ether happens. Jerry would be ill advised to do any type of extension until he see's his performance thru at least 8 games next year. If Dak holds out so be it, but again this would only be conjecture unless it happens. Can't see Dak's agent advising him to hold out based on Jerry's support so far. Never accept anything unless it's fact and at this point it's not fact.

The only way Prescott doesn't get a new contract this off season will be if they're too far apart on the money (guarantee) and term and I hope that is exactly what happens but don't think it will.

What other team has a starting QB making what he is? Or with that amount of money committed to the position? Most have backups getting more than all 3 of the DC QB's combined. They have been in pretend cap world regarding the QB position and Booger is not the type owner to try and lowball his QB, just the opposite, he wants to have his QB making good coin and Dak is going to get a deal that will leave no doubt that Booger is all in on Dak Prescott.

There are going to be some pissed off posters here because this deal will make it seem like they're inescapably attached to him long term and they don't think he's the guy. But it is not a long term consideration. How much were they paying Romo when they replaced him? There is no long term thinking in the NFL.

Backup QB’s make up $10M in the NFL. Yes, he would hold out instead of risking his career for less than a million. Hell, it wouldn’t surprise me if the NFLPA would step in before Dak played under that contract.

It might be in Dak's best interest to play out his contract.

He would be in a much better bargaining position after a season that proves he can and does improve his game. A great season, showing marked improvement would catch the attention of other GM's looking for a QB.

I know it sounds mean but the truth is if we were smart we let him hit free agency and then get him back for about 8 million a year that's what above average NFL quarterbacks get

The average right now (16th highest) starting QB is 19M. It's now 2018, not 2010. It is a shiate-ton of cash, but that's the reality of the NFL.

Garappolo got 130M with 74 guaranteed based on less than 100 pass attempts. Crazy. It's the equivalent of being a left handed pitcher.

How much would Dak get on the open market right now? And from whom?
Jax might give him 20M. After next year they're gonna need a bus driver. With that defense, someone like Dak who limits mistakes might be exactly what they want.

Don't think the NFLPA would get involved in an existing contract, a very precarious situation that would present for everyone involved.

The NFLPA agreed to this in the bargaining agreement already in place, not sure why you would make a statement like this, remember he did sign the 4 year contract of his free will , again just your opinion on his maybe holding out and it would be his right to hold out but as Dallas holds all the cards he would be very foolish to do so.

I would gladly pay him $10 million. Which one of those pays him $20?

I never said anything about specific #’s. Just the idea that there is 0 market for a QB of Dak’s caliber.

Is everyone really pretending to live in a world where Mike freaking Glennon didn’t get $18M guaranteed??

Nope, because he knows Jerry, and any other owner in Jerry’s situation, would pay him. What’s the alternative? Jerry doesn’t pay him and loses his QB and goes out and tries to find another?

And Dak’s alternative is to sit out the season and get a minimum $10M the next off season. Now ask yourself, would you play for 1 season and risk everything for $840K knowing what lies ahead?

That would be a terrible idea for him

Dak's contract largely depends on these last 5 games and the first playoff game.

What would another team pay him? That's all Jerry should even CONSIDER, and offer less than that because he still has a year left on his contract, and this is Dallas. Quarterbacks here make good money off the field. They don't in Oakland.
Nice to see I'm not the only sober won here

just so you know if Dak sits out next year on hold out he doesn't get a accrued season toward free agency so he would still be in the same boat with the 4th year of his contract still in force if he decides he want to play again. You don't seem to understand how it works with the union agreement, Dak has the right to hold out, but if I'm Jerry I want to see as much more of Dak before I pay him anything more as I can.

I'll be amazed if his AAV is closer to 20 than 25mil per.

20 is cheap now.

Feel like any deal hovers closer to 25mil per.
