Opinion: Dak will not play out his rookie contract; will get some sort of extension

Agree with OP and i would add we are going to regret it big time like the Jags are doing with the Bortles extension.Atleast with the jags they were 1 game away from the SB but i dont know if we will even win a playoff game with Dak.

And you do not know that we won’t either.

Bortles is the same guy he was the last 3 years, this year, number are in line.. they have tons of injuries especially Fournette, and that defense is nearly last in TOs and sacks this year where they led last year..

the TEAM itself struggled all year, not really Bortles issues as they paid him for what he was, he didnt get elite QB money, he got similar money Dak will get and hes well been himself, not sure they fully regret Bortles signing but wonder what THE F happened to the rest of the 2017 team especially on defense..it be like Eagle blaming Wentz for their fall from last year, its team thing.. For dak 2016 success was team deal, he is who he will be and better coaching and players around him will help Dak going forward..thats Key if they Keep Dak give him a extension they better find a elite TE and Safety plus better OC/QB coach at the very least to insure Daks success..

Dak's contract largely depends on these last 5 games and the first playoff game.

What would another team pay him? That's all Jerry should even CONSIDER, and offer less than that because he still has a year left on his contract, and this is Dallas. Quarterbacks here make good money off the field. They don't in Oakland.

Two of the highest profile jobs in America, if not the world, behind being the President of the United States. Is the HC and the QB of the Dallas Cowboys.

I would bet more people can name Garrett and Prescott over the Vice President.
And throw Jerry in that mix as well, since he puts himself in front of the cameras more so did Murchinson or Bright.

lol no way. trust me. neither is as main stream as you think.

How much would Dak get on the open market right now? And from whom?

Dak does not seem the type to hold out either. If no offer or agreement is forth coming. He will play on the $840,000 contract.
He knows Jerry will pay him, but also he has the work ethic to continue to improve regardless of the contract status.

I just want him to prove he deserves that contract over these last 5 games, or more like at least 7 games if not 8. :D

So because Dak is a nice guy and he thinks Jerry is a nice guy he is going to risk his career and potentially millions up millions of $’s? Again, there’s literally 0% chance of happening.

Dak WILL NOT play out his rookie contract. He WILL get some sort of extension.

Had to get this off my chest because I keep seeing people post about how Dak has 1 year left on his deal. Unless both Dak and his Agent suddenly get brain damage there is 0% chance he plays on a 1 year $840K contract. To me this is just common sense and needs to be put out there so we can discuss the cap and future plans with reason.
Technically speaking, you are giving us a prediction and not a fact.

Jerry says a lot of things. He thinks he’s a motivator. I don’t think anything is written in stone. These next 5 games and into the playoffs (if applicable) are very critical for JG and his staff. If they are let go then I think the thinking on what to do with Dak will be re-evaluated.

Literally nobody doubts Dak is likely to get extended.

That was not what I said. But go ahead and twist it if you must.

never forget your only worth what someone else is willing to pay you name a team that would pay dak over 10 million a year I'll wait

I agree that will probably happen however I think it’s dumb. I pay Zeke, Tank, Amari, and Earl Thomas first and I might use a tag on Dak until he proves it, which he definitely hasn’t yet IMO.
Funny they make Tank prove it yet want to toss a much bigger contract at Dak before he’s proven it and a year before they need to.

I know it sounds mean but the truth is if we were smart we let him hit free agency and then get him back for about 8 million a year that's what above average NFL quarterbacks get
