Cooper Rush should have played the 4th quarter

For three quarters, my section at the stadium was just shaking our heads in disgust and frustration.

Amari Cooper was wide open the entire football game. I mean WIDE OPEN all damn game long. He could have had 500 yards receiving by the end of the 3rd quarter. Even he was visibly frustrated at the lack of throws his way. The Philadelphia secondary is just putrid. They couldn't cover me.

Cooper Rush should have played the 4th quarter because this game should have been 35-3 by then. Dallas had all the possession, and the defense had the Philly offense tied in knots. Wentz looked bad, they couldn't run, first downs were incredibly hard to come by, and their defensive backfield was a makeshift band of gypsies.

It took a 62-yard field goal after a horribly mismanaged late drive in the half to be up a lousy 6-0. You have to try really, really hard not to be up three touchdowns in that game by halftime.

Dak throws a bad interception, followed by a an even worse interception, followed by a brainless fumble, followed by missed opportunity after missed opportunity....and suddenly, this thing is 9-9 only by the luck of a missed extra point.

"How is this possible?" we all stared at each other. "We should be in our cars headed home already."

Then, Dak drops a beautifully thrown ball to Cooper in the end zone, and it's back on track for the moment. However, he misses Gallup on two easy touchdowns running past the Eagles' jokesters for corners. He misses on a throw to Cooper, who fortunately adjusted on the ball for a 75-yard score as whoever "Bausby" is runs out of bounds. LOL, good corner you've got there, Philly!

Finally, after a nice drive in overtime, ping, pong, the game is over. Lucky touchdown, but the proper end to a nutty game. The Cowboys now have the awful NFC East pretty much on lockdown.

This game summed up Dak perfectly. Horrific interceptions, missed opportunities, bad fumbles, a few tremendous catches by receivers, and a few really well-thrown balls against a practice-squad combination of off-the-street defensive backs in a wild and woolly game. That's who we is.

My lone thought after that crazy game.....this is a Super Bowl roster that will have to drag this guy as far as they can take him.

Can a bus driver take a Ferrari to a Super Bowl this season? We'll see.
Yes they could.

We have a lot of luck going right now.

We had none last year.

We also have Zeke for a whole season.

We need both to get there.

I keep getting banned and this trash is still circulating after a 5 game win streak. Love this site

The headline is misleading. The op-ed was at the game and was making the point that the game should have been out of reach in the 4th quarter. Cooper didn't suddenly get open in the 4th quarter. He was open all game.

There is no point. You are talking about Cooper Rush. Not Danny White, Steve Walsh, Steve Beuerlien, Bernie Kosar, Rodney Pete, or even Quincy Carter.

You're talking about Cooper Rush replacing a 4 game winning streak QB in the 4th quarter vs the defending Super Bowl champions in a tied ball game. Cooper Rush! There is no point, no rationale, no sense at all.

I don't want to see Cooper Rush stay as the no.2 QB. If Dak is not a franchise QB, get some real competition for Dak next year. But you will be replacing with just one more win a 2 times in 3 years NFC East Championship QB and a QB that never had a losing season in the NFL (also in his entire football career).

Dak has to go against Luck next week, and then Winston. So far he has won against Wentz 2xs, Drew Brees, and Matt Ryan. You play who they line up in front of you and you beat them. Until you don't, you keep going.

NO, THAT'S NOT WHAT I SAID AT ALL. READ THE POST.

Cooper Rush should of played the 4th quarter so we would of definitely lost lol You guys are funny. Ya'll must of miss the crap fest Rush put up in preseason vs backup and current walmart greeters.
No kidding.

We won a tough game against the super bowl champs.

Our qb threw for 3td 450 yd and won the game.

But hey, we could've won it EVEN more if we benched the guy who WON the game.

There are some dumb posts but this one takes the prize

Agree with everything other than the idea that Cooper Rush should have gone in. Dak was a flat out disaster the first 3 quarters and if we had someone on the bench who was even close in ability to lead the team, I think they would have benched him. Other than that, we saw the same game.

I didn't say put Rush in during a tight ball game in the 4th quarter.

I said they should have put Rush in because they should have been up 35-3 in a laugher so he could run out the clock.

That game should have been long over by then.

Do you see the irony in your "dumb" post? LOL

Try to understand the point of the OP before posting please.

Lawd have mercy. He did the right thing by staying on the bench.

LOL, apparently reading comprehension is not a strength of this message board.

I suggest about half of you re-read the OP, then try again.

Not once did I suggest that Rush replace Dak if this was a close game. Not once.

I suggested that the Cowboys should have been way ahead already by the 4th quarter, so Dak could rest on the sideline while Rush ran out the clock in garbage time.

What is your point?

That winning the game wasn't enough for you?

Edit, ah I see. You're saying that the game should've been out of reach.

I admit I just skipped to 5he end of your post.

I knew what you meant from jump but you have to realize when people are in their feelings and or just want to argue they see things that aren't there. Hell when you said they should be up 35-3 or something like that that is a dead giveaway you were saying that they should've been put the game away. Reading comprehension might be at an all time low smh.

Very good analysis. I know many don't want to hear it after such a thrilling win, but that's the same thing I saw.
I give Dak credit: He has a lot of fight in him. But so did Tebow, and he was one of my favorite non-Cowboys players. But he was wildly inconsistent passing the ball, even though he had the heart of a lion.
Dak has a little better passing skills, but he's like Tebow.
Like Tebow, he becomes "super focused" when the game is on the line. I like that about him.
But his inability in the first three quarters scares me as we enter the playoffs because good teams will put the game out of reach negating any last-minute heroics.
He has got to get better. He leaves too many points on the field. With this defense and offense, we should be like the 90s Cowboys with diamonds at the running back, receiver and offensive line positions, and the corner, linebacker and defensive end positions.
Our only liability is at quarterback.
Sorry, but that's the Monday Morning reality.

P.S. No, I don't think Cooper Rush should have played the fourth quarter.
Once again we leave out an OL that is patch work.

If you're judging Dak right now you have zero credibility and less football knowledge.

It's less than fair..........

NO, THAT'S NOT WHAT I SAID AT ALL. READ THE POST.

Most (including myself initially) didn't closely read your post, and in fairness to you, what most believe you wrote, and what you actually wrote, are very different. Nevertheless, in fairness to the posters who missed the distinction, the title of your thread was misleading, and the first two paragraphs did nothing to clarify.

This is spot on Erod.

The first time the saying fits "This team only goes so far as its QB will take it". Unfortunately.

I'll chalk it up in a few words...PLAY CALLING! Never mind Daks bad presence in the pocket, the game plan was stupid, stupid, studio. But the plays being called were so dumb, they had to look up to even see stupid.
