I'm tall and lanky, was a pitcher in College yet could throw in the high 90's. My coaches instilled in me to never bulk up my arms, mostly leg work. Mechanics change drastically and it effects accuracy and location. I am not sure how it affects QB's but I imagine it is similar.

I had a bro with like 14 inch skinny arms who could pretty much flick the ball about 45-50 yds and I look like a shot putter trying to throw it.

Throwing like pitching has nothing to w arm size. Kinda sucks cause I got all these biceps and triceps for nothing but moving weights back and forth.

I might be moving soon and could use your biceps for my couch.

After his TD run on Sunday he did his bicep flex. Hes got some serious guns. Most QBs have skinny arms..maybe hes to bulked up and it affects his accuracy. My basketball coaches always hated for their players to lift heavy weight in season cuz they said it affected their shot. I told them they were full of crap, maybe they were on to something.

Are you saying he looks fat? Maybe he's been talking to Romo.

I have thought this. I was skinny but had a rocket arm. I used to see weight lifter types that could out lift me easily and were stronger in every way but couldn't throw like me.

Yep. Your arm doesn't throw a football, your legs and wrist do.

I have noticed that when he puts his body into it he can throw for distance so he looks like he has a strong arm. But he can't whip it like a short stop. He can throw some weak passes if he isn't set right.
It's long arms and big hands, IMO.

Russell Wilson has some guns and passing is solid.
Russell Wilson's arms are not bulked up like Dak's. They instead are compact and well defined. Big difference in weight lifting. It's obvious Dak is lifting often but heavy weights. Russell is lifting often but light weights. Thus the difference in size, definition and accuracy.

Good eye, Coach!

Pay attention to pics of the football coming off of Dak's hand this season. Zoom in. Watch how Dak's fingers look rigid, and his finger tips are slightly bent inward. All signs of higher increased arm/hand strength being exerted when throwing and releasing the pass. That's probably why a lot of his throws are ending out high or trecking at an upwards projection. He's even thrown some wobblers. All signs of rigidness in his throwing arm, plus increased hand grip on the football during release.

This can be fixed with a much lighter weights workout where he can better define his arms but not get so bulked. It very likely is the cause of some of his bad throws. Half the time he gets away with an accurate and well placed throw. Other times those throws sail on him or get thrown inaccurately.

That's so true. I was stronger than our QB by a lot and can't throw for crap. As soon as the throwing started that's when I got moved to running back. Lol

Watch his face when he throws. Often signs of strain and struggle. Lots of trying to throw instead of throwing.

That pass that he made to Gallup on the sidelines was a thing of beauty. He certainly doesn't have a noodle arm for sure. However, I think he lacks touch and finesse. He needs to learn when to zip the ball and when not to. He needs to work on nothing more this entire offseason putting some touch on the ball. Learn different ways of passing and learn how to avoid the rush in the pocket.

Two things he needs to work on: 1. Touch and finesse. 2. Pocket presence. Both can be coached.
