If your definition of sizable is vet min plus incentives, then yeah. I doubt any team is willing to fork out big bucks for a guy who doesn't even show up to practice and the previous team had no idea where he was and couldn't get in touch with him according to rumor. Throw in past drug use along with mental issues and a significant other who is a certified nut case who is out to ruin his life.

I hope Irving turns his life around like Gregory hopefully has and signs with the Cowboys next year. I doubt any other teams will be much interested.

I agree with you. Dallas is known to be patient with players that have a checkered past, so the league has to be hesitant on paying Irving big money.

Austin is the new Ryan Williams on this board. Remember before 2015 how he was going to be Murray’s replacement?

This is rich.

The same guy that was the leader of a receiving crew that was "dragging Prescott down", is now the anointed catalyst that is going to propel this offense to new heights in the postseason. Whoda thunk?

For Dak sniffers, 2 months ago before the AC trade, Austin's lack of impact and ability was the weekly excuse to prop up Prescott.

Now, Tavon is the great hope again?

You gotta love it.
And you would argue THAT group of receivers was what, pro bowlers?? ROFL, Dak sniffers, well at least were sniffing on a player who actually still plays, lol Romo lickers...

So you are still blaming them for Daks failures

All they can do is beat the man covering them. If they never get seen or if the ball sails 3 yards over their head, that's not on the receivers

Thanks for illustrating my point, better than I did

Sniff away

I agree. I like the player. He can play outside or inside, but is best-suited for the slot spot occupied by Beasley. I don't know if we'll try to keep both, but we might take the one who will sign for the cheapest. Cooper, Gallup and Austin would be the best combination IMO, and I don't have anything against Beasley. I just think Austin is the better overall threat.

They already tried to extend Beasley and he didn't go for it. He's so gone. He's just worth more somewhere else. So be on a pass first team. On the flip side, Austin is worth more here as a complement to Zeke. A run threat plus a deep threat complements our base offense much better than a possession slot wr.

Tavon Austin is the Lance Dunbar of the Receiving world. We hear how great he's going to improve the offense or add another dimension. Only to be let down again as they can't quite seem to figure out how to utilize the skill set.

It’s a little different now. Gallop emerging.... cooper drawing double teams and/or the other teams top cb. Beasley still reliable. You can def take a shot or two deep to Austin on the opposing teams 3rd-4th cb.

Austin can bring a little something but the guy who can really impact this offense is cooper
You remember the guy who dominated for weeks and who we haven’t used the last two weeks

The notion that Tavon would make a huge impact seems like lunacy to me. But never say never.
The player that is coming on is Gallup.
With teams fearing Zeke, Gallup and Cooper could be tough if Dak can get it to them on time

Like we know how to do anything more with him than run jet sweeps.

This is what bothers me about the salaried analyst. They know, good and well, that Dallas is not going to run anything but a -5 to 2 yard jet sweep with Austin.

I doubted Austin's receiving ability untill he was our best receiver pre Cooper. Hope he can help this offense again. What we lack though is red zone efficiency.

We struggled a lot when he got hurt. Not for his weaponry but his ability as a decoy

he's just as likely to be injured running out of the tunnel.

Very productive per touch run or catch. He should have gotten the ball more. About a jillion times better than having Jourdan Lewis run/fake jet sweeps.

I'm hoping we keep him for next year. I think he really complements our base offense.

I put better odds of Austin coming back next year than i do Beasley at this point.

You know what? With Austin healthy the Cowboys have pretty good offensive personnel. There is no reason the Cowboys offense should be anemic.

This is absolutely true. And to me, it's just another indictment of the offensive coaching staff that they still can't figure out how to effectively use the player talent that they have. Time and again, we see flashes of what these players are capable of, we know that they can do the job. And yet, time and again, the coaches can't manage to put them in position to make those plays.

But that's what happens when a coach calls plays for himself and not his team.

I so look forward to when a better offensive coordinator can get his hands on these players. I think this personnel has the talent to be explosive.
