Aikman on Dak: He's going to be the Cowboys quarterback for a long time

The difference IMO is between accuracy and ultra-precise accuracy. The Gladwell point is a good one, but you can spend 10000 hours to teach a pitcher how to throw a changeup. You can't spend 10000 hours teaching a pitcher who throws 90 mph how to throw 99, its purely a physical thing.

Dak will throw passes at times that are very accurate, but its not the type of ultra-precise accuracy like Aikman showed in the story where he knocked a Gatoraide bottle off Tuinei's head at 50 yards. Not many people on Earth could make that pass and I don't see Dak every having that type of accuracy. I do see Dak smoothing out his mechanics so he eliminates the one or two bad passes he makes he game. I think that just comes with time, but I don't think he ever develops "Gatoraide Bottle at 50 yards" accuracy.

I completely agree that you can't 'hour up' 90 to 99 mph. I think you could make that 90mph pitcher almost unhittable with speed change, different pitches, and location, though. We wouldn't be asking a QB to throw harder, right? Just more precisely.

It’s funny to have this thread and the Troy Aikman’s Criticism of Dak thread on the front page at the same time.
I will have to say dak has impressed me this year guess we will see how his passing game keeps coming along but I was also impressed with that new York giants game for me that was really big for him

Yeah, I heard this on my drive in. Troy wanted to rebuild everything in Dallas earlier in the year as well?

Aikman can't even remember what he said a month or two ago. I don't even pay attention to him any more. Romo is a much better announcer and Michael Irvin knows more about the present Cowboys than Aikman. Aikman is a little like Howard Cosell in my eyes and likes to stir the pot and create controversy when it comes to the Cowboys. I doubt Aikman has any inside information on the Cowboys. Just a Cowboy-hating blabbermouth these days. He is in heaven with his buddy Joe Buck, the leader of the Cowboy-hating blabbermouths.

Oh boy, I'm off work today. I have all the time in the world. This will be my most productive 10 minutes of the day.

Now it's not on the list of rules, but I think I was told at some point that you can't call other members trolls on this website; I assume to stop people from namecalling, calling everyone they disagree with a troll, etc. Understandable (though I could be confusing it for the old DC.com forum where that was indeed a rule and I got a timeout for it numerous times for having lovely chats with my old buddy Deathvokation (@Runwildboys the good old days)). I'm not entirely positive though, so maybe one of the staff members here can clarify that for me.

So, lets just look at @Willfreedom909 's posts and decide what he is for ourselves. Looking through his profile for about 13 seconds, it seems as if every post he writes falls under one of these categories -

1) Extreme anti-Romo posts, and bringing Romo up in threads that are not about him. Insulting and arguing with people who like Romo, proclaiming in every thread that Dak has surpassed him, and Romo sucks, and he wasn't a "real QB", etc.

2) Extreme pro-Dak posts. Looking at his posts, the dude posted on Saturday for instance before the game that Dak has a better HOF case than Romo. He seems to enjoy insulting and arguing with anyone who does not like Dak. I am a Dak fan and a Romo fan, so I'm trying not to be biased here; just calling it like I see it and stating the facts.

Now, those are what the majority of his posts are themed around. Whether a thread is about Romo/Dak or not, he does on occasion force his opinions about Romo/Dak into it.

But let's not forget about the...

3) Blazing hot takes! Here are some of his I especially like. Have a peek through the profile, guys.

The ones in quotation marks are indeed exact quotes of our boi will's that I have simply copy and pasted.

Dak is better than Brady and Brees
Gallup is better than Adam Theilen
Foles is the best QB in the NFC east
Aikman would take the current Cowboys to 4-12
Lamar Jackson is the best rookie QB
Lamar Jackson should have been the #1 draft pick
Mahomes doesn't need good footwork because he is so talented
"Mayfield is a midget without the talent of Wilson or brees" (despite the fact that Mayfield is taller than both Wilson and Brees)
Blake Bortles has accomplished more than Romo
Andy Dalton "won more" than Romo
Dak is better than Staubach
Dak is better than Andrew Luck
Deshaun Watson is better than Andrew Luck
Dak is trash, but Romo was even more trash.
"Without Sean Lee, Romo would never have had a winning season" (he had a winning season every year as a starter before Lee was drafted)
"Dak most clutch qb i have ever seen in playoffs". (I especially like this one, because it was before the game against Seattle, so his sample size was literally the one playoff game in 2016)
"Brady is a trash system QB"
Dak is the best QB in the NFC east, despite later stating it's Foles
"Dak, Beasley, snake lee are all passive aggressive babys"
"Both Quincy and Dak are better talents than Romo"
"Dak sucks and is just a slightly better Romo" (???)
"Wentz still better than Romo just not as good as Dak"

Oh sweet, if you copy and paste directly from a profile it generates a link to the post.

"I would trade LVE for Ramsey in a heartbeat"
"Tom Brady is a bottom tier quarterback. Without him starting patriots are 14-5."
"Tebow still won more than Tony Romo ever did."
"Trade Cole Beasley for Antonio brown"
"Trade Cole Beasley for two first round picks"
"kellen moore was just as good as romo just never got the chance."
"Low IQ post"
"Low IQ post"
"Low IQ post low IQ post"
"I'd love Kaep to replace Dak on this team. Perfect Superbowl hardened veteran."
"Low iq thread"
"You mean Sean Lee and LVE are low IQ. Jaylon is the only linebacker between the 3 that displays he's intelligent"
"Every game is a must win if cowboys want to be serious contenders. Hope they lose though so dak, JG, and Scott linenhan can be traded away...."
"You mad? Defense LVE is expendable. I'd trade him in a heart beat if we could get a solid guy like Juju Smith Schuster."
"Low iq post"
"Lol you really are low iq."
"This is a low iq post."
"Low IQ post"
"Dak is not half as good as Cam. His arm and footwork is laughable."
"Dak is going to get around 30 million a year. He's better than 70% of QB's in the league. Dude is clutch as they come"

I'll stop there.

In conclusion, Will is one of my favorite posters, and I am so looking forward to reading more of his high iq posts.
Unfortunately, I think calling out posters may be against the rules, but that may be just as it pertains to the starting of a thread for that purpose....Good luck, brother!

But how many guys have that type of accuracy? I always use the examples of Aikman and Rodgers, but how many current NFL QBs do? Brees does. Brady and Rivers, probably but I don't think they had it early on in their careers.

But guys like Russell Wilson, Eli Manning and Cam Newton have won a lot of games without having it.

I have been corrected by my fellow posters about Troy referring to Dak being accurate....which is true. I see your team is moving right along. These playoffs are proving to be rather interesting, wouldn't you say? :)

Dak has intangibles that even the most talented athletes hardly ever have. Those guys win some, but not much more than that. But he has grit and belief. That 14 yard run he made, reminded me of Derek Jeter running into the stands at full speed to catch a baseball. The things he has you can not teach. He can learn to get more accurate on long balls and look off defenses. But he is already a gamer. He was born to win playoff games when the pressure is highest, imo.

I hope we do. keep him for a long time. he is a very good quarterback.
But if signing times comes. asks Sal Prescott if the Cowboys don't sign, who will sign You?
You've seen the negativity around him.
in my opinion he is very good. but he should get paid 15 to 20 millions.
Dak needs a lot of things to go right round him.
he is a contributer . he makes mistakes and he make plays

Romo was Jekyl and Hyde too, he could throw us back into a game or throw us right out of one. Time seems to weaken memories.
That was the beauty of watching him strictly from the QB position, not a fan's. Anytime he went back to pass or was doing that Houdini thing and he was basically framed in the camera without the receivers and he let the ball go, I, involuntarily leaned in because anything could happen.

I cannot recall a QB, except Favre, that caused people to watch because they didn't know what they were going to get. He truly was Booger's center ring for his Big Top. Romo had the same attraction NASCAR has, would anybody watch if there wasn't the high probability of wrecks?

There isn't a single great player in the history of any sport that didn't have demons to exorcise. Except maybe Bo Jackson. That guy was a freak.

I think most of the "polarization" is simply residual from the Romo era. Many love him to death because he's not Romo, and many dislike him for the same reason, though I think most of the dislike is fueled by the Romo haters.

This is exactly how I feel, I think Romo was great for the Cowboys, he just didn`t have the teams and coaching needed to win a SB.
I don`t think Dak is as good as Romo but I do think he is a winner and can win when he has a great RB and a great D and competent coaching, I like the kid.

This Romo vs Dak thing should end, this is not 2016 (BTW, I think Romo should have gotten his job back and retired after 2016), this is why some of the fanbase is divided, we should pull for Dak to win without having to mention Tony, they are two different players with two totally different ways of playing the game and with two different teams around them, why would anyone keep trashing Romo in 2019 is beyond me, by the same token I don`t think it`s right to bash Dak by saying Romo would win it this year.

Just let it go people.

Glad we finally got a real qb. Haven’t had one since aikman retired
Literally packed more stupid into one sentence than has ever previously been accomplished by mankind.
I was about to say that is literally an incorrect summation but..

Never mind.
