maybe, but nothing on or off the field says this guy was a smart hire.

On the field he was a huge success in college, and at least made it to the pros, which is more than the overwhelming majority of NFL QB coaches were able to do. Outside of that, coaches and players alike have praised him for his sharp mind and understanding of the game.

It's reasonable to argue that he didn't have sufficient coaching experience when he got the job, but it's blatantly false to claim there was nothing at all to suggest he was a smart hire.

Something I'm still curious about, that nobody that trashes QB coaches seems to be able to answer, is what is the criteria they use to determine if a QB coach does a good job? In Moore's case, what is it that anyone can point to that he did wrong? Or right? Or average? How would a fan even know?

Attempting to read between the lines, I'm surmising that it was determined that Lombardi and/or Campbell are at the end of their contracts and that unofficial back channel conversations occurred and progressed sufficiently in the last 24-48 hours to make it clear that they should go ahead and cut ties with Linehan so he can identify his next lilypad, whether in the league or perhaps at some FBS school.

I just don't think the Joneses let go of Linehan if they don't already know with some certainty who the next guy is (, or guys).

Dan Campbell and Joe Lombardi.Only way that's doesn't happen is if Saints deny them the right to interview etc.
Yep I forgot about Dan Campbell he was doing a little work with us anyway after he finished playing with us while I think he went somewhere else after playing for us then came back to us oh, I did read about Lombardi that would be interesting

And if you read my other post on Garrett sometimes you just need a new face and that could be said for our head coach too ! Lenihan had plenty of chances to change his ways and he didn't or it just wasn't working or players weren't responding to him

If it ends up that Campbell is named OC, count me as one of those who consider all the talk about Garrett's weakened voice to be hogwash.

Then again, if that doesn't happen, that's a much more viable question.

I actually want to see an OC who will get on this offense like Chris rishard did when the defense was playing bad against the Rams the Cowboys have lacked that for a long time and then again that falls on Jason Garrett
Yeah, plucking Christian Rashard off the market was a game changer.

I would love to be wrong, I like Dak a lot for all the work he does around the community. I just haven't seen anything in his 3 years to make me think he's the guy to lead us to the promise land.
Honestly I don't care what he does around the community because ime it's not like we use that with every player so when that's the case I personally throw it out. For me just be a good football player. It's nice if you are a nice person but truth is most people are nice so that doesn't do anything for me just because you play football. I agree I don't think he will lead us there but at least he has a new OC so we can see if that was holding him back.

I could ask the same what has he does to deserve the bashing he has taken? This was his 1st season working as a QB coach and someone Dak lobbied for. I saw improvement with Dak over the course of the season not to say more improvement is not needed.
ok, I can accept that.

well if Dak says he was a good hire, then so be it. his success will obviously be tied to him anyway.

your right about how is an everyday fan on a board site to know, guess that is why they are called opinions.

my opinion is only based on few facts such as you said about lack of experience and lack of success on the field in the NFL, not on Daks opinion.
Not really understanding where the whole gungho defense of a QB coach by 2 or 3 posters is coming from, but for me its like ho hum - the whole coaching staff should be replaced if you ask me.

You are right. Linehan was running Garrett's, Norm's & Zampese's offense from the 90's. I think Linehan was much more innovative in Detroit.

Exactly. Linehan actually has WCO/Spread background. He ran more of WCO/Spread concepts in Detroit but was forced to use JG's offense here. Our passing scheme was pretty much same with Linehan as it was when JG called plays.

We are not going to see much difference in the passing offense if the new OC is forced to use JG's offense. Only improvement may be the play calling(less tendencies)

Which they can right? Unless it is a promotional and not lateral move?

They can, yes, but only if they're still under contract.... I'm suspecting one or both is finishing up his.

The original tweet said we are looking to go a different direction on offense. It wouldnt surprise me considering how Jerry basically said Garrett doesnt make the final decisions here if his playbook is scrapped along with his scheme and we build around Dak Zeke and Coops strengths.
