If it's true the Giants game was his audition as OC, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Still, I ain't convinced he's got the job just yet. I'm pretty sure it would have made official by now.

If Moore gets the job, it's probably because he offered to clean Jerry's glasses. He's not qualified. I know because Prescott hasn't improved in certain areas.

I believe what Aikman said is true. You either have it or you don't. You can't be taught.

The chatter with Kellen Moore around Boise, even during his playing days, is that he was always being groomed to be a coach. He had an amazing teacher in Chris Peterson. It was obvious he didn't have the body type to play in the NFL (which is too bad because he was a smart player with ice in his veins) so it was always presumed he would climb the coaching ladder......and, here we are. People balk because he isn't a flashy name

Coach by committee?
the wade Philips and Garrett years, prior to parcells...the trainwreck that was Campo and Gailey. They all had to collectively get permission from Jeery to run the team the way they saw fit. lol..and it was a bad deal. Only Parcells was allowed to run the team down on the field. FACTS.

No. They balk because he's never been anywhere near an OC.

The only way Sean Payton or Lincoln Reilly take over the Cowboys is if Jerry is either dead or retired. I don’t see them coming here to put up with Jerry’s meddling.
Both Payton and Riley are VERY close to Jerry.

Payton lives here, and his kids are here. When Brees retires, he's done there.

Jerry talks to Riley regularly apparently.

It's going to be one of them, I'm convinced, in 2020.

That's why they're not going outside the organization right now.

I think people balk because he's been a coach for one year. It doesn't matter how he was groomed, he has very limited coaching experience.

We are coming off a season where the offense wasn't good enough to the point they decided they needed to part ways with the OC. And their solution might be to promote a one year NFL coach who was also part of said underperforming offense. I can't believe people don't understand why people would be highly skeptical of success coming from that move.

Coach by committee?
OR IF WE WANNA WORD IT DIFFERENTLY...coach by default. NONE have real power over the players, JERRY DOES. Its like removing the teeth on a guard dog,it renders their job of "guarding" hopelessly unattainable. Failed before it can get going.

Honest question........... where was it reported he called the Giants game? I ask because I honestly don't know.

I have no issues if they bring in an OC but then also give Moore more responsibility (passing game coordinator).

Full quote: “6. I believe this: If the Cowboys were to ever move on from Jason Garrett, there’d be two guys atop their list to replace him, with a good drop-off thereafter. One of those names is New Orleans’ Sean Payton, the other is Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley. And if you consider that, it should inform how you look at their approach in replacing offensive coordinator Scott Linehan. Dallas wants innovation, and the kind that’ll fit Dak Prescott’s game, and quarterbacks coach Kellen Moore getting the call (I’m told he’ll likely be part of the equation there, regardless of who becomes OC) would actually make a lot of sense in that regard. Among the coaches in Dallas, Moore is known as a guy who knows how implement college concepts and can take quarterback-friendly ideas and apply them within different formations and personnel groups (leading to what McVay bases his offense on: simple for the offense, complex for the defense). Moore also has a solid understanding of trends and the rules, and how to attack a defense in the passing game. And he’s even-keeled and considered good for Prescott. Would it be a risk to just promote the 30-year-old? Sure. But the payoff in maintaining continuity while adding ingenuity could be big. We’ll see if that’s the road the Cowboys take.”

It’s too early to be screaming. Chill a bit. Lol. Besides, What does it accomplish. Jerry is Jerry and we can say a trillion times that Jerry should back off and it still won’t happen.

It wasn’t. It was reported they may have given Moore more responsibility with the game plan, though. I don’t remember where it was reported, though. It might have been something said on The Break.

lol what organization thinks Moore is great enough to be an offensive coordinator and how were they able to assess that with only 1 year of experience? This is NOT the year you get a guy who needs training on the job because we have a lot of big contracts coming up soon. We need to see what this team can do before we start handing out the checks. Moore can stick around as an OC assistant and in a few years, maybe give him consideration, but to put him on the Garrett fast track plan is utterly ridiculous.
Kind of like them hiring a QB coach his first ever year of coaching when you have a QB in only his second year in the league as your starter who needs to learn a ton still and could use the experience of someone who went through it all not just held a clipboard on the sideline forever.

Honestly, I ain't sure where I saw it or if I did. I do know the offense looked much different.

If Moore is qualified to be an NFL OC then I believe he would have been getting calls to be a college head coach or OC by now. I think it's strange we haven't even heard of one outside interview.
