exactly, and then when the audible didn't work, Garrett blamed him, but Romo knew that he had enough cred with the fanbase that we knew he made the right decision.

I saw a fascinating interview with Tony recently and they asked him about audibles. Bill Polian said Romo was the best pre-snap QB in the NFL behind Manning and Brady. So when they asked him about that he said that 1st and 2nd downs were the coaches but 3rd down was his. He went through his reads and made the call at the line every single time.

Although all this praise is great, he's not a guru and he's not prescient and it's not that surprising.

He simply going though his reads - just as he always did.

I don’t think he can make much money outside of what he makes now. He definitely can’t make more than Nantz because he does more for CBS than just football. Basically he can’t make more than any play by play or analyst that does more for CBS besides football.

In coaching, he has the potential to make two or three times the money. He will just have to burn midnight oil (I don’t think he has the desire to do it but he does have an ego to leave a mark in everything he does).

No, they can pay him whatever they want to pay him.

If Nance is at the end of his contract, neither Fox or NBC will be beating down his door to offer him a big raise.

Saying Romo can't make more than Nance is like saying Amari Cooper can't make more than Beasley...

Not to mention, Romo is also rolling in more endorsements since retiring due to his increased national profile.

So how are you going to spin this post you made?
By using my firm grasp on the English language? There is a Grand Canyon sized gap between what I said and Romo sucks.[/QUOTE]

I don't even think the English Channel can contain the gap. I personally like Romo as both the former QB here and as an analyst. However, I must admit that I found him slobbering a bit too much on the Pats for my liking yesterday. He's brilliant when it comes to explaining different strategies. However, I thought he was a bit much with the Pats for my liking yesterday.

Tony is gonna get paid and it surely means more money for Nance too.

"Romo’s contract is up after next season, which could set up a multimillion-dollar TV free-agent sweepstakes for his services at this time next year.
Before that can happen, CBS is prepared to give Romo a substantial raise from, according to sources, the $4 million range that he currently makes. Next year is the final season of his three-year contract. It is hard to see how he does not become the highest-paid NFL TV analyst.
If Romo does make it to free agency, CBS would have the right to match an offer. CBS has a history of negotiating contract renewals early and, with someone like Romo, the network is trying to implement this strategy again, according to sources."

That depends on whether or not one chooses a ferry crossing in France...

CBS Reportedly Ready to Give Tony Romo 'Substantial' Raise to Stay with Network

Richard Deitsch of The Athletic asked Romo if he has received any contract offers to make a return to the playing field.

"There are legitimate contract offers and there are, 'Hey, what are you thinking?'" Romo replied.

If networks were gonna pay Peyton Manning 10 Million, Romo will probably get that.

Man he is rolling right now.

The best part of all of this well deserved hype is it may compel all other announcers to try and predict every play before it happens. That would be comedy gold.

Hmmm wonder if Romo watches tape on the match up or is he calling this stuff on the fly? Whew can't wrap my head around a former QB sitting with a birds eye view calling some plays based upon how the D is lined up , can't believe this guy ever lost a game.
blue--i think several years without Romo we would have been far worse than 8-8..i keep wondering if Romo had Zeke and Cooper and great line and for once a great defense...but we will never know

Rock---you know i might have to agree....Madden seemed to have cool "quips"..but Romo is like deadly accurate...i know if we did not have romo during 2011, 12, 13...we would have been far worse than 8-8...he never had a really top notch defense..except maybe 2009...but it was not top notch
