He is thinking I don't play for them anymore and I don't care what they need to do to take the next step because I don't want to see them take it

Why would Tony want the Cowboys to go farther than he was able to take them or even discuss it . Probably leaves a bad taste in his mouth just thinking of them going to a SB after he is retired
He still has friends on the team, and I'm sure he's rooting for them.

This is the full quote. It's obvious he's talking about JG when he says "I'll pass on that one"

“I honestly don’t know how it will play out,” Romo said. “I think it will be interesting to see what they morph into. In a lot of ways, I think they’ll probably stay pretty similar because the head coach is there, and it’s still probably going to be his verbiage.”

That’s not really what Cowboys fans wanted to hear.

Romo paused when asked what Cowboys must do to take the next step before saying, “Umm, that’s a good question.”

He then paused again before continuing.

“I’ll pass on that one,” Romo said."

Again, if its about Garrett then Tony needs to be quiet. He was the one being buddy buddy off the field with Garrett. Rodgers got Mcarthy fired. I’m sure Romo could’ve got a much worse coach fired.

Because Romo himself knows he couldn’t overcome Garrett. How would Dak if he couldn’t.

That’s just, like, your opinion man.

We don’t know. He could want to flame Garrett. He could want to tactfully make some observations about a young QB and thought better of putting Dak in the spotlight. He could have had criticism of the offense or of Linehan he thought better about sharing when the guy is out of a job. He could think they need to add a few playmakers.

I’m sure he’s got a great answer, whatever it is. But you can’t just assume his no comment matches your own criticisms exactly and anyone who disagrees is Jerry or a homer.

I’ll set aside my usual screed on people thinking people who disagree about how to improve the team are homers by default. I might want to change more than you do right now and just wouldn’t include the HC. That doesn’t make me a homer. It might make me wrong (I’m not), but it doesn’t make me a homer.

I put this in another thread, but it was meant for this one:

He could be wondering many things, but I'm going to guess he passed because it has to do with either the guy coaching the team, or the guy who replaced him.
or the guy owning the team.

I do not give them credit because their brand of football doesn’t allow for them to get any credit.

The entire thing is dependent on our players talent.

There are few good playcalls throughout the season. It’s our guys trying to impose themselves on the other team.

There are no adjustments. There are no great coaching performances. Our coaches offer nothing but fundamental football and it ends there.
You aren’t making sense. You are saying they gave up 270 because the players needed the coaches to be able to succeed, but when they do well they don’t need the coaches to succeed. It’s a ridiculous double standard. Either the coaches play a part in success and failure or they don’t.

I know.. Romo has to come out and make it crystal clear for some of you to believe it.

Yes. Our coaches brand of football can not help us. It can only harm when we have become predictable and a team has figured something out and we need to adjust.

Skimmed the thread so may have missed it, but Moore was saying on the Ticket this afternoon that Romo was also asked about Kellen Moore, and David said he sort of hemmed and hawed for a second but ended up saying he's heard good things about Kellen but he doubted much would change because the head coach was the same.

Anyone still unclear about all this?

Why can't he just tell Jerry privately? I thought he had that kind of relationship with Jerry.

I can't believe no one has got it yet.

Tons of speculation here in this thread, but Tony answered the question directly. He said "I'll PASS on that one" He's simply saying we need to pass more often.
;)
You got the closest, but you didn't go all the way. He said I'll pass on that one. He meant that if he was still the QB, they would have solved the problems by now.

My opinion... I bet he has. But Jerry isn't going to do *everything* Tony wants.

In fact, I've always suspected Tony is the reason Jerry took playcalling away from Jason years ago. We know Jason didn't want to give that up, so something forced Jerry's hand.

I thought he was saying he was going to make a pass at Suzie Kohlber.
