Don't expect a discount from Dak Prescott

Not arguing for or against paying Dak big in Dallas....but Dak is the very definition of a player that has a real right to not except anything much under market value.
He's been at nor near the lowest paid starting QB in the league for years now.

Maybe if he has a 3rd contract in Dallas or elsewhere, but not his first chance to really get paid.
It could be his only chance to set himself up for life. Playing poorly or getting severely injured--either one would mean that chance has been lost.
Nobody can blame him for getting it if it's there, at least for this contract

Since the rookie contract scale was implemented (so after the giant rookie deals of the past) has any starting QB in NFL history ever given the team a discount entering into their very first non-rookie contract?

Not true, I liked him a lot better before he started talking. I don't like any player talking money in the media, never have and never will.

I watched him in college and was very aware of his family situation and how he'd gotten the QB1 jobs and he was one of the toughest QB's I had ever seen play and a terrific leader. However, as a passer I saw the weakness in his game and why he hadn't been able to beat out a healthy QB. He was inconsistent and he still is, he misses NFL QB 101 throws too much.
He makes plenty of starting qb throws. Dak is the only guy who could go 42-55 and fans would still b.... about accuracy. They be like: If he had been more accurate he would’ve hit 50-55 of his passes!!! Hell they were b....... when he went 20-25. Dak is one of those guys where people can’t let go of the negatives but they can easily ignore the positives... believe it or not: it was the same way with Tony Romo... up until 2014.

Paying the QB what he is worth versus what other QB's have gotten is the game at hand.

Frankly, for a guy who doesn't set his feet correctly sometimes. And more often than he should. He needs to recognize that his compensation is not for bowling over a linebacker to put the team in position to win a game. That skill set will erode quicker than a double cheeseburger from McDonalds in Rosie O'Donnell's hand.

The real compensation comes from standing in the pocket with a huge angry defender about to clean your clock and you throw the ball, dropping a dime on a receiver who dances into the endzone for the winning touchdown as you pick your butt up off the ground.

Make the play and you get the pay. Throw a pick and you can suck .... vinegar through a straw.

If you need a reminder of what mediocre QBs get in this league, look at Cousins and Bortles.
Not sure I'd put those two in the same league.
But if you meant overpaid....yep...both are.

The key word is consistently, he will make poor throws of simple passes and believe it or not, I was not a Romolover or Romorooter as he made plenty of mistakes as well.

They're all going to miss passes but until I see different, it is that inconsistency that dictated a lot of play calling.

They gave the same boilerplate answers that Dak just did. And the fact you take the comments on Brady seriously is proof you are a hater.
LMAO, please show me where Aikman or Romo ever commented on salary negotiations. Romo even deflected the question asked about what Booger said about him playing behind the OL.

Prescott just needs to shut up and spend more time on the basics and fundamentals of passing.

The only thing Prescott needs to do is ignore idiot fans that only refer to the HOF Owner as Booger.

I think Dak will get paid,
either
1) By Dallas via an extension leading into his final year, or
2) After he plays this year out--then by either Dallas or some other team.

Honest question though
What other teams out there would pay Dak a full value starting QB contract right now, without him playing out 2019?
I realize that nobody here knows for sure what team would do that, but just curious what some here think.

What a disgrace that contract will be. He will immediately become the most overpaid player in the entire league.

Quit worrying about other people’s money.
Jealousy, envy, etc.....It's a crisis in the US lately.

But the NFL pay structure is not like normal real life,
In real life, if person A makes 5 million in Ohio, it takes nothing away from person B making 50k in Florida...and in fact, may end up helping person A hire more people.:muttley:

But in the NFL, due to the cap, what person A makes could directly affect the whole team.

Don't need a discount. He needs to be paid like the middle tier QB he is.
I don’t expect a discount and Brady didn’t give a discount before. He does now because he’s made his money
I expect a middle of the pack salary for a middle of the pack player
