c'mon, I read the OP as Dak taking shots at his GF that she isn't making enough money - she needs to step up her game so Dak can take less money....

The interesting part is it has little to do with his ranking as a top QB. It is based on the needs of his team and they have 0 alternative and his agent knows it.

Ya know why Brady took less money to stay with the Pats? Because if he hadn't, Kraft would have let Belichick trade him. He's not stupid, he needs Belichick more than Belichick needs Brady.

Pay Dak as the elite QB that he's not and this team will lose a lot of games. He won't have the help around him he needs to succeed. It's that simple. The team does have alternatives. Dak plays one more year and then we draft a QB with our #1. Or we see what Mike White has. If he flops, we have a high draft pick to use on a QB. If Jerry lets an average QB leverage his way into huge money, he'll be making a huge mistake.

You can not pay Dak elite quarterback money when he hasn't made significant improvements over the past couple of years. He still has terrible footwork, pocket awareness, accuracy issues, holds the ball to long, and doesn't trust himself to throw the ball to the anticipated route.

Comparing him to Kirk Cousins is down right laughable. Do I think Kirk Cousins got overpaid? Yes, but Dak does not even sit at the same table as him. Kirk put up fantastic numbers in Washington even with a front office and coaching staff who didn't want him around. He put up slightly better numbers then Dak this year with a horrendous offensive line(mid 80 grade rankings). Their interior was probably they worst in the league. Running game ranked 30th in the league and he lost one of his best receivers half way through the year.
Cousins is trash. Look at what he did in Minny. Dak may not be your cup of tea, and that's ok..but man...don't try to tellme Cousins is Steak when we all saw in 2018 he was pure boloney. You have your reasons for liking you some Cousins I guess. DAK just wins. Give me a winner anyday. lmao about "Dak doesn't sit at the same table" comment. You must have pulled that one outta your arse. No disrespect intended.Just trying to understand that.

Let Dak walk, or cut him. That way we can go on the QB finding journey that we did after Aikman retired, those were fun times - nothing but 5-11 seasons the true smell of success.

If we try to go cheap on Dak, he will walk and get paid a hefty sum then we go right back to rebuild mode at QB. That what some of you want? You hate Dak that bad? He may never ever be Aaron Rodgers, but he doesn't need to be. I want him to be Dak Prescott. Take the cuffs off him and let him ball.

So his rookie year in 2016 featured "terrible footwork, pocket awareness, accuracy issues, holds the ball to long, and doesn't trust himself to throw the ball to the anticipated route"?

Or did he throw for 3667 yards and put up one of the best rookie seasons in history because he had a healthy Offensive Line?
To be fair, he had one of the best O-lines ever.

What? I'm serious, don't you know there is a Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady clone at every street corner. Heck they sell them in a 4 pack at Costco. Just get one, hand him a 100 million dollars to play QB. As long as that money doesn't make it into Dak Prescott's wallet.

Dak will get paid here in Dallas and if we didn't keep him...we are much dumber THAN WE LOOK. lol...Like your post. Some think we can just go to the store(the draft) and pick us up a Franchise QB. We sure do have some delusional spoiled rotten fans.

Cousins has "shrinkage" issues in big games. Dak doesn't. Dak just needs a real coach.

totally disagree. You are way under estimating his worth. Don't kid yourself. If a team like the skins for example had a chance to not only get better, and stick it to Dallas, they would jump all over it. What? You think the skins or Jags like the QB's they have ?lol...Blakey Bortles and Colt McCoy are clip board holders, nothing more. Dak has proven he can win.

Jacksonville went to the AFC Championship with a team very similar to Dallas, lots of weapons on Offense and Defense and average QB named Blake Bortles. Very similar to DAK. The Cowboys have a ton of weapons, Zeke, Cooper, Oline, and a Defense.. makes a average QBs like Bortles, DAK, Case Keenum type QBs look better than they are.

Not many QB who switch teams in FA go on to be superstars... most are bridge type QBs at the end of their career. Look at the starting 32 QBs in 2018. How many of them came from FA and how many came from the Draft. 2 or 3 switched teams in FA and both were overpaid and underperformed.

If DAK leaves the Cowboys he will go to a lesser team, few weapons and more pressure to produce without weapons.

Yep and we can be assured without a shadow of a doubt that whoever we get after we let Dak walk is going to be the messiah.

Kirk Cousins is a choker.

He does not play his best ball when the game is on the line. Everyone who watches him, knows it.

Dak Prescott expects to be paid "what's deserved" on his next deal.

Prescott's $725,848 salary last season ranked 55th among quarterbacks. Heading into the final year of his rookie deal, Dak is looking for a big payday on his next contract and isn't interested in taking a home-town discount like Tom Brady. "I am here where I am today because of the people always saying what I couldn’t or could do," said the former Rookie of the Year. "But I just keep going out there and just doing what I know I can do best." After guiding Dallas to playoff appearances in two of his first three seasons, Prescott could be in line for an extension this offseason.

No question, also he had Zeke at RB to take a lot of pressure off.

But if the criticism is that Dak is awful in the pocket and hasn't improved, he can't cite the first half of Dak's career when that wasn't an issue. 90% of the QBs in the NFL have issues in the pocket when they only have 2 seconds to throw.

On top of it Linehan was so predictable that he first read was almost always schemed out of the play by defenses before the play even started.

I am watchi
How long have you been an NFL fan, like 2 weeks? Prescott was NFL offensive rookie of the year and this past season had a higher completion percentage than Brady, Rodgers, Big Ben, Mahomes, Wilson and Goff you don't think a team like the bills wouldn't be ecstatic to be able to sign Prescott if he were to became a free agent. Only someone who's only been an NFL fan for a couple weeks would think Prescott would never get a 2nd contract in the NFL.
.

I watch the NFL since Montana played for the 49ers.

I cant say i am a fan, cause most fans switch off their brains and argue by emotions. I try to stay rational. Well i think i am more a fan of the sport then of the NFL. I dont like their approach to sell a product. But that is another story.

And yes you are true. I do think he will eventually get a contract. Not the one he envisions. And he may start for some other team too.

Satisfied ?

Let's be honest. Dak needs to improve and a lot of it will be on him with a first year signal caller. Dak needs to slide more in the pocket, run more when the lane is there and fumble less. Dak needs to make better choices when the deep option is there. Personally, I would give him a mid-range 2 year option with the understanding that a long-term deal will come if he plays well. Doesn't sound like he's amenable to that option, though.
