It’s not designed to inspire confidence, it’s designed to draw attention to the business he is plugging. Humor is a key and consistent method of doing that. Nothing at all wrong with this.

He already showed more charisma and a sense of humor by doing that than Garrett has demonstrated his entire career.

Gruden has done numerous commercials on a national level that made him out a fool. Payton has done a few local plugs here in Louisiana doing the same. I'm sure Belicheck, Mcvay or any other coach would do the same as long as the intention is fun spirited. The criticism of this is a bit uptight, especially considering so many recently have espoused selling used cars is Moore's skill set!

Kellen Moore went to Boise St. (which is in Idaho).
His college record was 50-3. He's basically a "local legend".
Everyone there knows who he is.
