he doesn't need to be a "franchise" QB. He needs to just be Dak. Means the OC and HC must take the cuffs off him and allow him to realize his potential.

Notice how no one has "liked" your comment?

Dak is NOT a franchise-level QB...and never will be, no matter how much they pay him.
Whether or not he is a franchise QB is irrelevant to the point I made. Fans feelings about him talking about his contract won't matter in negotiations. You clearly missed it because you wanted to bash Dak and people that support him even though my post didn't support or reject him.

Did you not read what i wrote. Cousins played behind one of the worst OL in football especially the interior. Had no support in the run game as they ranked almost dead last. Lost one of his best receivers half way through the year. Changed offensive coordinators at one point and still put up better numbers then dak

I'm not a fan of cousin as I feel he was overpaid however to claim dak is on par with his is down right lunacy

Let's give Cousins some time before we declare him a choker. Washington was trash and so was the entire offense for the vikings this year . Dak has played behind better teams thus far

Give him time before labeling him a choker? How long has he been in the league? 7 years?

I personally feel like Cousins was overpaid. All that being said, the Crux of this thread is discussion of what the actual market value of Dak is. Sadly, due to the limited supply of starting caliber QB’s in the NFL and the ultra high demand for that limited supply, the market value for Even above average QB’s who hit the free agency market, is crazy high.

I hope the cowboys sign Dak for the most reasonable contract possible. I hope he takes around 20 million. I really do.

I’m also Jus trying to be realistic about what his value is. People saying he should only be signed for 15-18 mil and numbers like that, just aren’t being realistic. Dak’s resume dictates he is worth more than that on the NFL QB market.

Pay Dak as the elite QB that he's not and this team will lose a lot of games. He won't have the help around him he needs to succeed. It's that simple. The team does have alternatives. Dak plays one more year and then we draft a QB with our #1. Or we see what Mike White has. If he flops, we have a high draft pick to use on a QB. If Jerry lets an average QB leverage his way into huge money, he'll be making a huge mistake.
I cannot argue against that at all and it is the history of making mistakes that leads me to believe that will happen. And drafting a QB with a 1st doesn't necessarily solve anything. They tried to get back into the 1st and get Lynch. The jury is still out on the QB's taken in the 1st last draft, except for Mayfield.

Sometimes a team has just got to ask themselves 'is this the best we can realistically do?' Then go ahead and do it. A lot of teams are eying Lawrence, Tua and Herbert for the 2020 draft. Dallas would either have to have a real disaster of a season or trade the farm away to get a shot at one of those three.

I think true freshman Lawrence isnt available until 2021
Hes the way better prospect than the other two, imo

your in the "no respect whatsoever" camp on Dak I see. That's ashame really. You will find out who's right if you all get your wish and he walks. Teams will be lined up to land him. Miami,Jags,Skins, Buffalo, Broncos, Raiders to name a few. The contract will exceed what Cousins got no matter who signs him. Fair or not, that's the QB market these days.
No i think he's in the "were not paying 30 mil a year for a good not great quarterback" camp.

You are right, I am losing track of the years. And no one is happier about that than Herbert and Tua. Herbert is actually closer to Lawrence in ability and at 6'6" with a cannon, he will probably be the first off the board, if he shows more consistency. We might get a better handle on Tua if he played more of the games. Putting teams away in the 1st half did not help his Heisman votes.

Dak needs to simmer all the way down and take 16.5, like a good boy...

well then, he wont be here and you can then say hello to starting a retread at QB or a rookie. That what you want? If the going rate is 30 mil(I hate it too), you gonna just let him walk? You ready to start from scratch and declare a guy like Dak a bust ? Because if you don't pay him, that's what your doing. BE CAREFUL.

LMAO..IN A PERFECT WORLD. Thanks to the idiocracy that is Minnesota paying a bum like Cousins what they did, this is now the market. Hey...I don't like it either, its insane, but for a chance to win, you pay him the money, lest you start from scratch.

Not that’s he is a bust, but there are better QBs coming out in the future. And with all the other pieces that Dallas has, we are not starting from scratch because we move on from a LATE round draft pick that has as many issues as he does intangibles. It’s not that big deal if Dallas decided to move on from Dak and let him test the FA market. If another team pays him good for him

ok, how do you know that? Do you know without doubt that if you don't pay him, you have a better slam dunk solution? Because if your wrong, you then set the franchise back at least 5-10 years. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.

Not to mention we lack a round 1 pick this year as a result of the cooper trade. Dak will be paid and isn't going anywhere. I think we will sign him for just under 20mil per for 4 years with the final year being a team option. That would be a fair deal.
