Looking forward, I'm curious as to whether Captain Marvel's origin will be told in a unique enough way so as not to feel "been here, done this"?
I think the trailers so far have given the audience a strong indication that CM's backstory will be told via flashbacks connected directly with her amnesia. I will be okay with it as long as her flashbacks are not disjointed like how it was presented in BvS--although admittedly I (meaning me only) was okay with how Snyder did flashbacks in MoS.

For me, focus on the Kree will be central for me. Skrulls are the main antagonists but I hope we get a load of Kree background as movie filler. It should not be hard. The movie is set in the S.H.I.E.L.D. pre-Iron Man era. Any other focus should be on Fury himself I would think and that should not be a lot considering what Captain America: The Winter Soldier revealed about him.

You say soft. I say marshmallow.

I have my fingers crossed for the future post-JL DCEU. Aquaman was a solid start in my opinion.

Agreed. That film has me much more optimistic for their future.

Hopefully, the little things will not continue bugging me. For example, I positively loved Superman's suit in MoS and BvS. His JL suit made me want to gag. On the other hand, I was anxious about Arthur ditching the brown/black Atlantean suit he wore in JL in favor of the traditional pre-Crisis of Infinite Earths suit. I must admit the updated but classically lined orange and yellow outfit looked good on Jason Mamoa.

See, I liked the Justice League suit more. Superman lives in the light, not darkness. That's Batman's world. And his outfit needs to reflect that. There was no reason to darken and dull down Superman's suit. That's the big problem with Snyder's vision, everything's dark, even in the few daytime shots! He always have to have some sort of filter on the cameras, so it's gloom and doom all the time. The few times it is daytime (and they are few), it's usually raining. The fact is that nobody wants to visit a perpetually depressing world, and even when somebody "wins" there, you still lose, because that world just sucks.

And I agree, that they somehow made the classic orange and green Aquaman suit look great. That's a huge accomplishment right there!

By the way, I'm really enjoying these conversations, thanks!

Yes, that was the impression I got as well. Flashbacks interspersed throughout the story as she remembers bits and pieces of her past, until the very end.

I'm expecting both Kree and Skrulls to get plenty of background. Kree as universe-building and Skrulls more as a threat to Earth, where they could be anyone, anywhere, at any time.

Either or both could be lead-ins to the next Marvel Universe "tent-pole" film(s).

I think the first movie suit was closer to the blue seen in his comics titles' outfits. Heck, I may stop and compare color RGB in Christopher Reeves, Brandon Routh, and Henry Cavill's first suit with the latest one. I think there is a slightly genuine and discernible degree of margin but that would just me going completely nerd out. So I may end up doing it!

I enjoy the convos too, even if we all do not agree about certain things. Movies, in particular, always lead to great conversations. However, I love talking about comic book characters too so... :muttley:

That is one of my greatest hopes right there. Skrulls would be a strong tie-in with the Fantastic Four (does Super-Skrull sound too corny?)

While I freely admit a Shi'ar introduction is a huge stretch of the imagination, it is a possibility since the Kree and Skrull Empires have been solidly embedded into the MCU.

The existence of the Shi'ar could support a M'Kraan Crystal storyline.

A M'Kraan Crystal storyline would involve a UNIVERSE sized threat a.k.a. cosmic threat like Infinity War type...

A threat which the X-Men dealt with in the comics.

Yep. I have crazy movie dreams. :p

I'm not sating quite as "powder blue" as Reeve's suit in '77, but lighter than that dour duit Snyder had him wearing, where even the yellow in the S had to be dingy.

Just saw a commercial for Captain Marvel, saying it comes out March 8th. Some different scenes than the trailer I saw here.

Every single mention in the media of the upcoming Captain Marvel has gone out of their way in the headline to mention how much more powerful she is than everyone else. Every single one. They seem desperate about it....and frankly that desperation in itself makes me want to see it less.

At this point, I'm only going to see it because of the Endgame tie-in. Shut up and show me the movie. Stop being Jerry Jones.

It is like how I described her last May in the A:IW closing credits scene. Captain Marvel is a major player. She will be the most powerful in her movie, which is why I think is one reason why they are hyping it so much as to not catch the non-core audience off-guard, but because she is comparable with the other heavy hitters already established in the MCU also.

That is not just my opinion, It's Marvel.com's. Here are some comparisons:

Captain Marvel

Hulk

Iron Man

Thanos

As powerful as he is, Thanos confronted the Avengers, Guardians and Wakanka with an army and was still a Stormbreaker strike to the head from defeat. In my opinion, CM will be the tipping point in Endgame. And the funny thing is I do not think Thanos will ever see her coming, lol.

I may add all the reference links later. Or anyone can visit Marvel.com, select a character and choose the IN COMICS FULL REPORT for the characters' comparisons I embedded above.

Agreed. I'm going to see it, but I don't have sky high expectations for it. I anticipate it being successful, but not a huge hit like Black Panther was. I'm going in not expecting much and hoping to be impressed.

This makes it look like Thor is more powerful by a small margin....but why are his stats so colorful? Was this graphic in response to an article on him?

I loved that movie and my sis was married to the guy (I only knew he was Masonic Lodge leader in CenTex) for years before she told me. I had no clue.
Yes, Ghostbusters 2 was not a very good movie, but I loved it anyway!
Shoot, I love Yor, The Hunter From The Future...
