He's not getting Mack or Miller money. OLBs get paid more than DEs.

Case in point, look at the deals DEs signed around 2016 and compare them to Von Miller's 2016 contract.

Now Lawrence isn't going to get paid like a DE three years ago but he's not going to sniff what Mack just got either.

At $20 million a year, I'm not expecting him to.

Lawrence at $100 million for 5 years is far less than $141 million for Mack for 6 years.

that's right again. I went and looked.

Jones signed his contract two offseasons ago. So the rate on a DE of that ilk has gone up. Factor in that Lawrence is probably a better DE and that ups the rate.

Jones got $31MM guaranteed at signing but $51MM guaranteed overall. So figure Tank at like $40-45MM guaranteed at signing and maybe $60-65MM guaranteed overall.

I might can live with those numbers.

Chandler Jones gets 31 mil guaranteed. WE are talking straight up DE's here...not D tackles or OLB'S...so going by that, I am not paying DLAW more than 40mil in Guarantees. Chandler Jones is ranked 3rd right behind Dlaw. I agree, pay the man, but not kill the team in the process.

You're also "going by" outdated numbers and contracts signed several years ago. Which I'm sure you're well aware of but choosing to ignore.

Mack has had 4 straight 10+ sack seasons, from the LB position, 49 sacks to be exact. 62 TFLs, 90 QB hits.

Lawrence has had 34 sacks in 4 seasons, 48 TFL and 67 QB Hits, same exact time period. That's the difference Stash.

I mean, they are not the same players and no DC, IMO, looks at them the same way. Mack is another level.

It means it's a factor. A factor for why his numbers weren't better in 2016, and one the naysayers want to ignore. Unless they're using it against him for his asking price, but not as a reason for why his numbers weren't up to par that year. It's a clear double-standard when judging him. The same way some want to talk about his performance down the stretch in 2018, while ignoring the role his torn labrum played in it.

Mack is a world class player far about DLaw. Mack is worth the money...DLaw not so much.
