I love a DB who can stand up their guy, no matter the size and shut them down.

Byron is Press-Jam coverage
21 targets all season long, 10 completions, 0 TDs, 102 yards allowed, 66.0 QB rating allowed

Byron in Man coverage
12 targets all season long, 5 completions, 0 TDs, 30 yards allowed ALL SEASON, 62.2 QB rating allowed

That was a good post i read it. I still feel Lewis should start at outside over chido. He's the best mirror cover man on the team. Byron's 5th year option is a steal and a no brainer but next year I can't imagine paying a guy that doesn't create turnovers top corner money. Byron also did not finish the year off strong. He played his best ball early and struggled a little at the end of the year.
I agree he did slipped towards the end of season

Never seen an organization's fans so willing to get rid of their own homegrown talent.

If the Zone got it's way we'd let Lawrence and Jones walk.
The greener on the other side mentality is rampant here. Cant get the willingness to let your own star players walk in order to sign someone else's aging vet, draft bust or otherwise malcontent!

Jones, while I don't love him as a player, is more valuable than the skill positions we'll be putting a lot of money into.

This defense, for the first time in years, looks like it's on the rise. And yet, many here are ready to move on from Jones and Lawrence. So not only do we get rid of our best corner, we get rid of our best pass rusher because Dak, Zeke, and Cooper need demz sum money.

No, you keep your young defensive players and hope to build and elite defense. That's how we win a Super Bowl. You won't just stumble across another high level in the draft. It's not like we've been finding them a ton the past 20 years.

For Byron and your 3rd round pick, you could probably get Antonio Brown.

They could part with BJ, but it's just not good form right now.. re-sign your home grown talent. Let AB walk next year, so JD can play nickel.

And then turn around in the next post and mock the Philly Dream Team.

Elite cover CB
Played the 2nd most snaps of any DB in the league
Still a spotless health record despite the insane usage
Super young
Intelligent
No off field issues whatsoever
Have watched awful CB play the last eight years

I'd think long and hard before trying to discard mr Jones. If it's a choice between Jones and Zeke? Not much a contest for me. Bye Zeke.

Too me he's just a younger brandon carr. not worth top tier money. I wouldn't get rid of him but $$ has to be right.

I would resign Byron Jones cheap this offseason, because he is likely to improve this summer under Richard's tutelage. What if he has a monster year in 2019? He will be much more expensive to keep, which we will definitely want to by then.

In health, lack of turnovers, and great off field is what you're saying and I agree.

You're not comparing them in coverage though which is the biggest difference and what gets you paid. Eliminating an entire side of a field is worth big money.

Byron's coverage looked like carr's at the end of the year. Turnovers get you paid

Byron just doesn't get int's. We lack that. Lewis would solve this. PLUS, we cannot sign all our guys. Someone will miss out. My guess is its Byron.
