Bleacher report saying 1. He hasn't had his surgery, 2. He won't have surgery without a long term deal 3. He won't play under a second tag 4. Won't take part in in any OTAs without a long term deal.

Sounds like he's backing himself in a corner if he's serious about all of them.

It appears that on Jan 23 he announced he would have surgery and was just waiting for the Doctor to set the date.

He would be stupid to wait, especially after announcing he would have the surgery.

His agent needs to do a better job of advising his client. If he gets the procedure done he should be ready to leading up to camp. Delaying is foolish
I'm sure he's scheduled for surgery already. Even NFL players have to wait.

Where is this BR report? I can't find it but I find BR to be a crap show and can't ever find anything on it.

Also, surgery like this isn't something that you necessarily just have done the next day. A buddy was a college football player and he had to have offseason shoulder surgery years ago and he had to wait about 3 weeks to get the surgery based on scheduling, etc.

My guess is that unlike an ACL or other injury where timing is crucial based on rehab schedules, this isn't that major a surgery where if he gets it, say in March, that his 2019 season will be threatened.

Woods had the same procedure done the following week after the loss to the Rams, this is not college.

January 17, 2019
Cowboys defensive tackle Antwaun Woods underwent shoulder surgery Thursday to repair a torn labrum, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports.

Woods injured his shoulder in the second quarter of the loss to the Rams. He played through it, staying on the field for 51 of 79 defensive snaps.

He'd be foolish to undergo any procedure without a contract in place. Surgeries can go badly - doesn't happen often but look at Alex Smith and Andrew Luck. If he has surgery and there is a problem, he's out a ton of money.

Luck hurt the initial recovery process by re-injuring it off the field.

What Tank said is more important.

You could also say then a team would be foolish to put out big money on damaged goods. He choose last season not to have it and Dallas paid him yet he re-aggravated the injury and hurt his production over the 2nd half of the season.

Yea because the player gets to dictate the doctors schedule lol.

Team medical staff arrange it, that is why Woods got his done the week after the season was over. It has nothing to do with dictate but you bet players on these teams can get this done ASAP and many do. Dlaw could have had this done this is more his choice just as it was last season when he 1st was dealing with this injury.

Woods already had the same procedure done. Players do not have to wait teams see to it, that players are taken care of

Jerry had a large sports medicine center built. I expect that Cowboy players go to the front of the line.

not having the surgery is hamstringing the cowboys. by not having the surgery, he lessens his trade value for other teams as he might not be ready to play early next year. it's a very risky tactic that might end up costing him a lot of money. he'll be worth less to the cowboys and less to any other suitors. not cool, tank.
