The ever so rare addition by subtraction and then re-addition?

He really wasn't even damn good as a scorer. In fact, that was really the biggest knock on his career - that he didn't score a lot of TDs. He only averaged 4.6 TDs per season over his career.

That is 4X more TDs than rico caught.

I love Witten......but hes nothing but a progress stopper at this point. The young guys (jarwin and schultz) were coming along just fine at the end of the season.

Our offense was pathetic last year. Including at the time when the young guys were "coming along just fine" . This does nothing to stop the progress of the ineptness of the Cowboys offense .

yes but know this, Gregory was always a luxury because we knew at some point he would regress off the field. So its happened, lets just cut him and move on I say. Can't win em all.

He typically has one of our best catch rates the last few years and still averaged 9 yards a catch with Dak. Instead of seperation by speed he gets seperation by technique and the way he uses his body to shield defenders. That is nothing to complain about. I hope Moore will find ways to get the younger guys involved as well. He should also help fix our red zone issues.

Witten , I have mixed feelings about. Guess it depends how you see it. I DO see a positive. He will help Gallup and Amari with things like spacing on routes and lining up..little veteran things. How to throw a "legal" pick lol....Witt was masterful at that and you wont see that in any stat line.

Eifert isn't a better player on the trainer's table and watching from the sidelines. Even so, I was okay with the idea of Eifert because Jarwin and Schultz came on the last 4-5 games of 2018, so I felt even if Eifert got hurt we still would have guys that can play. I'm also good with Witten as long as he is more of a role player and not the featured TE. Let's hope the Cowboys are thinking that way. According to reports Witten is willing to accept that.

Was Eifert coming to Dallas? I missed that exclusive exclusive. Since when did SJ and and the personnel department start going after notable free agents?

Not sure how I feel about this. Clearly a leader. Clearly an upgrade over last year. Clearly does not have the speed to really stretch a defense. Replaces a loser like Rico. Veteran who is super steady. I am not related to Swain or Schultz or Jarwin. I would be pissed if I were them. Does drafting a TE still become a priority. He will always have great hands.

I am truly not sure how to feel about this one.

You are fixated.

Scoring is not the defining thing about the position.

He has the best hands on the team.

He moves the chains..

he blocks like Gibraltar.

Stop with the scoring nonsense.

I think this takes TE out of the equation either in the draft or free agency. The team isn't giving up on Schultz and Jarwin, and this move probably highlights that more than if the team had used a high draft pick or signed a younger free agent TE

It seems a bunch of fans forgot that Garrett begged Witten to come back
midseason last year.

His return is interesting given he's already agreed to come off the field before punting situations.
I'm guessing he takes Schultz under his wing and cements his legacy.
