Ware pretty much played rush DE in the 34 under Parcells so I don't really think that would matter much. The real question, to me would be, which one would be in condition to actually play?

LOL.... No. Ware was good in any defense because you can't teach that cat quick jump off the ball. If he still has that, it won't matter what the defense is we play.

Romo can't stay healthy if he actually sees to field, so not him. I'm cool with him retiring with full range of motion and able to walk and strong mental facilities.

Witten's 2017 production was easily replaced by our trash heap of 2018 TEs, so not him either. Unless he secretly spent the year off taking illegal performance-enhancing treatments to restore his athleticism and turn the clock back 5+ years.

Have to go with Ware, I guess. His ego would have to accept a bench role and bench-player money (which I imagine he couldn't handle, but this is a hypothetical), but he could thrive as a heat-seeking missile who plays limited snaps in obvious passing situations. Wouldn't have to keep himself bulked up to handle the running game or handle the workload of a 3-down player. Just whittle his body and technique to the point where it's built for quickness and pass-rushing and nothing else. As a role player off the bench, he could've extended his career by years and probably tacked another 5-ish sacks per year onto his career stats while he enjoyed the specialist role with less wear and tear. But I'm sure he's enjoying his retirement and coming back for bench-player money wouldn't be worth the injury risk and the working out.

And it's not even close. Romo by a mile because we'd have a legit QB again who can make all the throws. Ware next because I think he could actually be productive in a very limited pass rush role. I don't want Witten back. I didn't want him here the last couple of years he played. I don't care how sentimental his presentation is on his favorite play. If you ever hear Dalton Schultz talk about his favorite blocking play it's more emotional than The Notebook.

Ware gets my vote. Not knocking the other guys I just think Ware can really help.

Pre-Gregory suspension: Witten (1 year out of the league, more of an intangible / mental player than a physical player)
Post-Gregory suspension: Ware (2 years out of the league, tougher position physically)

Either one is golden.

We got Witten. Maybe Ware does return. That'd be at least = to Gregory at this stage in my mind.

Value add of Romo at this age, likely only playing 1 season before jettisoning again, 2 years out of the game at the toughest position in the game; with the cost of losing Dak due to the move, is way too high. Not a good risk / reward.
