I'm not a big fan of Prescott but it's hard for me to ignore three simple facts:
  1. He wins.
  2. He has not missed a start.
  3. His teammates love him.
I hope the Cowboys know what they are doing.

I am hoping against hope that Linehan was holding him back, or this could be a very poor contract.

It doesn't matter, he was 6th on the list, there's 16 DAMN QBS....lol

6th out of 16 is closer to average than great.

And in the context of this discussion you seem OK with paying the 6th best QB in the NFC and potentially Top 3 QB contract in the entire NFL.

A most prudent move imho. Stability at the qb spot is paramount. Ask elway and the Broncos. This was priority one and seems to have been done. On to the next one. Now I can get ready for spring turkey season without this hanging over my head. Purrs, clucks, yelps and gobbles.

Absolutely.

And let's also note that many of the people who will praise the Cowboys for signing Dak to a contract like that probably ripped the Vikings for being silly and signing that contract with Cousins.
I really do not understand why anyone cares about Dak's contract much less praise his riches. Both acts are silly IMO. But factually speaking Cousins at his accomplishment level reset the market for QBs. Dak has accomplished more that Cousins since he has been in the NFL. So.......if Cousins is getting paid 28 mil a year.....Im just saying

Contract expected to be worth 27-30 M annually.

*I’ll post the source as soon as I can get the link*

I told you guys once but half the forum chose to ignore all the things said by the Joneses and Dak.

“Oh but he should be paid 18M because he’s not a top 5 guy.”

“Oh well even qb’s in the top 10 aren’t paid 25+.”

“Franchise qbs get 23M.”

Those same guys who make 22 now will make 32 their next contract. It’s called a market. Understand it and get over it.

PS. If you think this is fake news you’re literally setting yourself up to be crushed. Just accept it now.

Does accepting something as true mean you can't criticize the stupidity of it?

You should care about his contract because it could have massive cap implications:

No way this is true. They are allergic to spending money so there is no way they are making an average at best QB the highest paid player in the league. Even they are not this stupid.
Oh yes hey are!

Oh no that’s not my issue. I’ve said multiple times I’m not posting pro or anti contract, simply that the contract will be north of 25M.

My main issue isn’t with those who accept it and don’t like it, but with those who cannot accept it.

One guy said he wouldn’t accept it until it was officially announced lol, guys like that are living in dream mode.

Do the owners get drug tested? A contract like that for Dak Prescott should be offered on April 1st. All the Cowboys have to do is Transition tag Dak and they save about 15 million. But again, owners need to be drug tested.

Well he can win 10 games if you give him the best OL in the league, best RB, a superstar WR and a defense playing over their heads. So there is that.
Can’t afford all these surrounding pieces if you pay the QB Aaron Rogers money.

See Brady and the Pats. Brady takes way below what he could get so the Pats can add other pieces to win rings.

Dak has apparently decided against this and just wants to get paid. No hometown discount.

You should care about his contract because it could have massive cap implications:

Every team's QB has massive cap implications. Love Dak or hate Dak, he gives the Cowboys stability. And at this point they know what they have in him. Is he the most talented guy in the league? No, but he has enough talent and he wins. That's all I care about.

Did Dak truly decide against this or did the Cowboys wave those dollars in his face? If it's the latter, he'd be a fool not to take it.

And Tom Brady has been playing in this league since Prescott was seven years old. At this point he can afford to take a discount because he's made his money already.

Players are always after their first "big" contract after their rookie year because anything can happen (injuries, mainly) and that opportunity can't be passed by. 33 wins over three seasons means Prescott will get the going rate for what above-average QB's in this league get these days.

That's not how it works. They roll into each other purely cap wise. Cash wise for him, he'll get his signing bonus upfront and salary as dictated in the contract. Cap =/= Cash.

I'm not sure if we are saying the same think of not. I am sure his final year (low pay) was factored into the new contract. It will be a new contract entirely, with the old terms going away, but being a part of the negotiation.
