His current play doesnt warrant that kind of money but what are our options without him? there is zero guarantee we can get his level of performance even if we picked a QB at 58.I only hope White has progressed a lot to atleast be a serviceable backup this season.

You keep playing Dak until you find somebody better. But you don't pay him like he is the real deal before you have to. There is no need to pay him this summer. Let the season play out. If dak is not the guy, and we are something like 6-10 draft a QB, trade up if you have to. I don't proclaim to know how Dak will end up at the end of next season. It could be a disaster or he could have finally improved and make me a fan again. I think people who rush into things are fools.

Trent Dilfer? You really are a QB challenged guy eh? LOL

Maybe its time to follow another team? Dak will be here for a looooong time!!!!!!!

I see, so you really didn't have a response to answer me back with. I was just using your logic and shifted it to a quarterback who had a more successful run than even Dak did this year. The point of course was to demonstrate what was wrong with it.

So I should be happy everytime Jerry does a stupid move, gotcha. Be happy with any and all stupid moves Jerrah may make or find another team to like...
Correct! This is Jerry's business and his product. If you don't like it, save yourself and everyone else your complaints and simply follow another business' product. Simple. Problem solved.

And that half the board you are talking about is actually in denial since the Cowboys front office disagrees with them.

Considering the years of mediocrity that, that front office has brought us, disagreeing with them actually may mean you are smarter than the average yes-man.

Sorry, bub, but I'm a Cowboy's fan for life. Once you are a fan of a team, you should always be a fan of that team, doesn't mean you should agree with all their stupid moves. So you must love garret and the coaches too since Jerrah picked them out for ya. so don't blame them next year or other players Jerrah picked for you if dak does bad.

The Dak deal, or the lack of one, will say a lot about Jerry and his confidence in Dak.

This will be Dak's 4th season. Time to commit, or not.

Let's see about "mediocrity" with this new and younger team...

2016: 13-3 record. Won the NFC East division. Hosted a division game.
2017: 9-7 record. Missed the playoffs by 1 game but finished above .500 regardless of a depleted/suspended/injured group of players.
2018: 10-6 record. Won the NFC East division. Won 1st and hosted playoff game. Barely lost by a TD to a very talented Rams team while playing away during the division (2nd) playoff round.

The past 3 years of records speaks of one of the youngest teams in the NFL who actually won the NFC East Division 2 out of the 3 years, played 3 playoff games while winning 1, and every year finished above .500.

That sounds more than just "mediocrity". Why don't you jump on board and support this more than "mediocrity" talented but young team?

Ridiculous but if you want to use that logic we'll have to agree Dak also gets credit for the losses.

Right?
Yes. He gets the L put next to his name for all the Ls. Even the one's when his offense scored 31 and 30 pts vs the packers and rams in 2017 but the defense gave up 35 and we lost. Just like he gets a W next to his name for the 6-0 win vs Philly in 2017 and the 13-10 win vs the saints this past season.

He's 33-18, including playoffs. After each game we can, and will debate who gets credit for it, but at the end of the day and the end of his career, he'll have a W or a L next to his name for that specific game. Like I said in a earlier comment, Aikman is the winningest QB in the 90s. No one went back and watch the games and decided who actually was the reason they won those game's. They just go off if the team won or not. Smith didn't get the Ws or Ls next to his name. The OL didn't get the Ws or Ls next to their name. No one on the defense got a W or a L.

There is a reason why the qb gets paid like they do. There is a reason why they get too much credit after a win at times and scrutinized too much after a loss.

The QB has always got Ws put next to his name. There is a reason why, if you search most winningest QB you'll find multiple sites and articles that keep up with it and talk about it. People act like this something new because people bring it up in a Dak debate and the non Dak fans get their panties in a knot over it. I'm sure most have used in the past when it was a QB they liked and it fit their narrative.

During his first three seasons Mark Sanchez was 27-20 in the regular season and 4-2 in the play offs.

He was an embarrassment.

Just making the point that having a winning record as a QB does not make him the nuts. There are other players in a team...

Sounds like maybe Sanchez was being carried just a bit by the the rest of the team. What's even more impressive is the jets being able to see that and moving on from him

Sure, there are outliers. Archie manning wasn't as bad as his record shows but he was stuck on one of the worst teams ever.

Sanchez gets credit for the 27 wins. We can debate if he deserves it but it shows he was 27-20 in his first 3 years.

If your point is just, records doesn't show how good the qb is, we agree. If there is some back door slam that Dak and Sanchez is in the same boat when it comes to QB records and they're on the same level, we couldn't disagree more.

I like Dak and think we can win a Super Bowl with him if we continue to build the D. I do not believe he should be paid like an elite QB, but I know JJ will. One thing that stands out to me is that teams game plan for stopping Zeke and the run game. I hope the new OC will change things up and not be so predictable when we run or pass. I do want to see Dak get better at not holding on to the ball and running backwards to avoid sacks. He needs to work on stepping up or to the side or just take off and run.

The people that don’t like Dak or think he is average are going to continue to think that no matter what.

I like him. For years we could find a QB that could win us a game if Romo was injured. We get a guy in the 4th round that JJ didn’t really want. He comes in and out performs some of our other backups and steps into preseason lighting it up. Romo goes down and he plays a 13-2 season. If he played the last game we would have been 14-2. Plays so well that he wins the starting job over Romo. In his first 3 seasons he has put numbers up that are amazing.

He will have a large contract and be our starting QB. Does he have issues to work on. YES. He will get a little more accurate this season and will be reading defenses and making his reads a little better so he isn’t holding on to the ball so long. The game will start slowing down for him even more. He has a talented team around him and that has a lot to do with his success. But I have seen him take the team in his back and drive down the field also. He isn’t just a bus driver. But sometimes that’s all you need.
