We really just need to upgrade our Safety (Earl) and find a way to sign Tank. The draft should help everything else. There's no reason to go out and sign 4 high priced FA's but 1 really good one in a position of dire need (Ball hawking safety) will greatly improve our outlook for next season IMO.

Then shut the place down. Nothing we say here "changes anything".

And loose out on all of the winning personalities of a bunch of stay off my yard cranky old fart types?
Why in the world would I do that.

Because a minute ago, the criteria you set forth was "doesn't change anything".

I hate to break it to you, but nothing anyone has ever said here has "changed anything" but it only seems to be an issue when people are being critical.

Why is that?

Two words:

Taco. Charlton.

That blunder + Randy Gregory suspension + Lawrence situation = no pass rush.

That's a problem.

+ Ryan Switzer.

Everyone always want to talk about Taco vs Watt, but it's Switzer vs Kittle that gets my goat. We'd be set at TE.

Or the Joe Thomas, Hurns, Woods, XSF, Flemings, Looneys like we did last year?

How many of them were game changing additions? All depth signings for the most part and I have never suggested they shouldn't sign some guys like that. But this team needs them to hit FA every once in awhile and grab an impact player, a guy who is above the Woods, Flemings, Looneys of the world and makes a significant impact to the team at a position where they need it.

I knew cheap arse Stephen would do jack in FA.

All this talk of being aggressive was just bs to calm the fan base down.
And that's gonna carry long ranging ramifications with it, knowing the #94 ( 95 is no longer worthy of numerical bolding in a FEUDIAN view) and probably two more as of yet unknown, but more than likely key integral team players not making it to game #1 kickoff due to injury/ suspension, "if" this expressed sense of urgency to make that push is to be embraced by the majority of it's Fan base , they damn well better land a couple of competitive & capable F.A. in perceived areas of need( and NO, they don't have to land Earl Thomas, Hell, from these negative waves being vibes, we prolly ain't even gonna retain #90 o_O

Salt in the wound:

Gavin Escobar over Travis Kelce! Talk about "set at TE!"

Because we need to focus on overpaying our own mediocre players, locking them up for years to come. I want to hate this team so bad this time of year. Having to sit by and watch other teams actually try to improve while we wait for the bargain bin.

LOL I started that the Patriots are known for staying out of the 1st week of free agency and you come back with them trading for Bennett, which wasnt even a free agency move lol.

So there really was no counterpoint to what I said. It's true that the smart teams on average don't get involved in over paying at the start of free agency, like I pointed out with the Patriots.

Not all that true. Last year they signed Clayborn in the first week. Before 2017, they signed Gilmore and Guy in the first three days of FA. Prior to the 2015 season, they signed Jabaal Sheard the first few days of FA.

In all fairness the Cowboys have drafted really well and the focus should be on signing their own players. (all but Dak)

We aren't going to the Super Bowl focusing on the draft alone. Ever. Especially taking players like Gregory and that bum Taco. We have some first round talent, but if Jerry isn't willing to open the pocket book in FA, it's the same end result.

It's only an issue when it is Critical?

You say that with a straight face.

You get one super homer start a thread and people are on it like flies on a pile of poo.

Heck take the super homer moniker of it.

You get a positive Dak thread and the flies are out in full force.

Make a positive post about Jerry and the flies are out.

Make a positive post about almost any player and I don't care how good they are there will still be some flies going after it.

That's about as absurd as the old "realist" term that only seemed to fit if you were critical of everything. Say anything positive about something and it was attached like carrion by the vultures.

So please cut me a break on the only critical crap that some of you like to toss around. Hell some people go from thread to thread to thread with the same lame snark and lines multiple times a day.

Some on this forum only tend to show up and post when the cowboys are losing. That happened to a few prominent members here until I pointed it out a couple years back and low and behold they started posting when we were winning again...it's like magic.

So there is ALL KINDS OF CRITICAL stuff on this forum it FAR outweighs any positive comments or threads on this forum and that is not opinion..that is fact.

Sorry, but I don't see people going into those threads talking about "changing anything" being a prerequisite, so I don't see how the comparison applies. If you wanted to point me toward one, I'd be glad to have a look.

So you are basically saying they are whining to be whining. Since they don't think anything will result from it, they are just whining to be whinging. Kind of like an annoying old aunt or uncle in the family that is always complaining about this or that.

Good to know that many just like to whine to hear themselves whine. So you got that going for you, which is nice.

Like I suggested a while back add ...
A Positive Zone
A Negative Zone
A Realist Zone (but like you said may eventually cross over into negative zone criteria)

That solves that, right?
