as it stands today the DL would be the worst in the NFL by a landslide.

DLaw does not plan on playing on the tag.

No 2nd round or 3rd round DL is going to come in day 1 and cause real havoc.

There’s no NFL caliber RE (Crawford is a 3T), or LE and the 1T and 3T are league average at best.

Yes there is a long way to go but stop getting upset about the safeties not signing and start seeing what vet 4-3 DL are available. I don’t know of many.

No No No this FO only picks and PAYS out big OFF-lineman to big money contracts.......which our members here have no issues with even though our Def line without D-Law is for the Dogs!

Dline is a huge issue that's being ignored. Even if they keep dlaw the dline is meh. The way things stand now Dallas wont have him playing or get picks for him. Then really how is the dline. Theyll draft dline and sign backups.

There aren’t many FS who can put on a show back there if the DL isn’t getting pressure.

Just when you thought the front office learned the lesson of games being won at the lines.....

Meh...since when? Good thread though. Look at Philly now....we are WAY behind them. Too bad Randy and D.Irv chose weed over their careers or we'd have a solid line coming back. Now? Could hold us back to about 8 wins or so. Just not much up front.

Agree. Been saying it all along. If you have consistent pressure then it makes the whole secondary look good. When we had good pressure then opposing teams see it in film study so when we play them it’s already in a qb head to watch out and get the ball out.

I agree with the O.P, as of now we are down three starters on the defensive line with a disrespected Lawrence, a retired/suspended Irving and a suspended Gregory. I definitely have the defensive trenches as a bigger concern than safety.

This is the problem with keeping Marinelli around. He's a big proponent and a big voice in Stephen's ear about going cheap along the DL, especially DT.

It is stunning to me that they have no desire whatsoever to improve their team and take that next step in FA.

I doubt every much Marinelli is a proponent of going cheap on the D-Line. D-Line is his background and obviously he would want the best players he can get. And in recent years they have used high draft picks on D-end. He just isn’t a proponent of the massive one dimensional run stuffer in the middle.

Should've got a safety last year when the market bottomed out but they waited. Now it flipped on them.
one of the more surprising trends this year. couldn't give one away last year, now they are platinum. strange.

Agreed that interior D-Line has largely been ignored, but at DE over the last 5 years the team has used a 1st round pick, two second round picks and two 4th round picks on the position. Unfortunately most of the picks didn’t work out.

TheCowboys have historically undervalued the DT position. The last time they took a DT in the first round was when they drafted Russell Maryland in Jimmy’s day. They value DEs botnot DTs.

I totally agree I've been asking for a defensive nose tackle for 3 Seasons. I don't care how good the edge rushers are. If you can't push the center back into the quarterback's face. All the quarterback needs to do is Step Up. I'd rather get the sacks pressure up the middle.

Marinelli does not like the "big fat uglies". He is all about the quick twitch and if you don't have it don't come on down.

Would not be shocked if they double or triple dipped in the DT or DE department in this draft.
Problem is if Rod will step up and fight for an actual top end player instead of just taking whoever at the end of the draft. Also have to wonder how much influence Richard will have in this draft and how much emphasis he will be putting on the Dline during this draft.

I would imagine if Richard stood up on the proverbial table to fight for a DE and or DT that they would listen.

Time will tell.
