If Dak is average in 2019 and we don't come close to a Super Bowl

I just want to thank you for getting to the point in this thread. It is much better than when you asked if we would trade a 4th for two 1st round picks and pretended it had nothing to do with Dak.
I worded the way I did because if I mention Dak I don't get ANY valid response. So now when I ask for genuine responses even mentioning his name it's the same result, that is why its more direct this time. Thank you for remembering.

I don't really understand the question because I can already tell you our offense will struggle next season and that has very little to do with Dak.

We just lost a receiver who was very instrumental in allowing us to continue many drives last season due to his special short area quickness and reliant hands. Once we got a true number one, everything started to click as a few of us suspected it would.

Even if Dallas lucks out and drafts a capable replacement, it will most likely take awhile for that player to acclimate and learn the nuances of a new offense and become a dependable target for Dak.

We are a run first team but if the passing game suffers, so does the the run game.

We are simply a worse offense right now that we were last season at this point in time. We needed it to be better not worse.

This is our formula every off season, we always use our draft to patch holes that we ourselves make. So in other words too many holes to patch once again. Never get ahead of the chains.

Double Cooper next season and our offense is shut down.

I was looking for some honest answers in what some fans might reconsider as we approach closer to this possible issue. Basically all pushback except from like one person. Just trying to understand why people are locked to one player regardless of performance to pay when we are literally tossing excuses around other threads why we shouldn't or can't keep Beas, Zeke, Lawrence, Jones, etc. But I've seen this wall built up around him after 2016, although it was transparent. After 2017 it went on full display.
I think that's a valid question about Dak. I also agree about this wall being built around Dak like he the next coming of Tom Brady. The funny thing is when you group Dak in with QBs of similiar talent there is outrage. Dak fans hate the idea of comparing him to Case Keenum or Derek Carr. Two QBs who passed for more yards than Dak over the last two seasons. To me Dak is a steal at his current salary but he is not worth paying big money to because Dak is not good enough to elevate the players around him. He needs premier talent to shine and once Dallas pays Dak the talent around him will drop. Or as usual with Jerry he wont pay the defense.

If Dak struggles the first eight games of last season without a number one receiver, what should we do with Dak?

If Dak is indeed average then Dallas finishes 2019 with a draft pick somewhere in the middle to latter part of the first round. Which QB are you going to draft there to be better than average?

On the flip side, it seems no QB is worth a ton of money because teams can't add other parts. Without actually looking, I think Peyton Manning's corpse was the last high-priced QB to win a super bowl and I have to say a more modestly priced QB could have accomplished the same.

You would most likely hafta package picks to be in the running forTua,Fromm or Herbert.
The defense of said Broncos team was a most dominant unit that year and whose free agent purchases like Ware, Talib and Gipson (paired with Miller of course) were the driving force behind that trophy.

Hard to assemble and moreso maintain those types of defensive units in this salary cap era.
But my point is the current version of the Dallas Cowboys defense in no shape or form resembles the Denver defense we've mentioned here nor previous models that carried average quarterbacks to a Lombardi.

If missing one elite piece offensively, the current QB does not possess enough natural talent to compensate. And while the defense, as a whole, carried the team through several wins last year, the loss of Gregory, lack of runstuffing DT, Free Safety and Lawrence's situation will continue to prevent long term success.

The current QB needs an All Star cast on both sides of the ball in order to sniff a championship.

Excellent post. Perfectly explained and I guess Im just in your small group as well, because from purely a football standpoint, this loss hurts greatly in my view.

I could care less about his rap career.

Wait a minute, was this post supposed to be on the "Beas to the Bills" post...?

If so, my bad. I responded anyway. Lol.

It won't be Dak's fault!!!! :muttley:Kellen will be enemy no 1 with some here and a new bag of excuses and the usual ones will once again surface with a vengeance!

P.S. Here's a fact....Dak will be average as his talent skills are average to BELOW average.....!

Yet he has 3 winning seasons, two pro bowls, rookie of the year, and two playoffs in 3 and a playoff win. Most comebacks in the last 3 years, clutch, leader, dual threat QB, 4th quarter magician?

Sorry, your just a petty troll that doesn't understand jack diddly about QB play or the NFL. Time fly troll. Big new contract coming.

You might try looking up Kurt Warner's piece on Dak last year. Or even as simple as kinda listening to Troy when he mentions things like "4 receivers are open right there"

I think they have both the credibility, and most "definitely understand how an offense works" are not on a message board worrying about their Dak being criticized.

Yeah, I think I"'ll take 2 Hall of Fame QBs, with no personal axe to grind opinions over yours.

And I think I could maybe list quite a few more creduble non troll types who have been critical as well.

Both those cats have said how good Dak is. What your talking about is an in game criticism of a bad play. So what or don't you watch other NFL games? QB's miss throws buddy. In the first half of the season when he had scrubs to throw to and the 31st ranked pass blocking line with a horrid scheme he played poorly. And for good reason. Fire the line coach and get him ONE great receiver and the kid took off. But I bet you don't want to talk about that do you troll?

Troy Aikman praises Cowboys QB Dak Prescott: 'He's everything you'd want him to be'

Here ya go buddy, enjoy the reading: http://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/...ws-los-angeles-rams/g3v8b3eqz5m9189eoptrc3yue

Kurt Warner said he’d rather build around Dak Prescott than Carson Wentz

In two weeks we’ll be celebrating Kurt Warner going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Today we celebrate his brilliance as he said he’d rather build around Dak Prescott than Carson Wentz.

What were they saying when Dak threw for 400 yards and led the league in 4th quarter comebacks? How about making the pro bowl last year? Going 7-1 down the stretch and winning a playoff game?

Agreed. Only thing Dak shown is that with the best OL, the leagues leading rusher and a decent wr group you can draft a late 4th round guy that takes care of the ball and make it to the playoffs.

I'd have to go back and look, but I thought his accuracy was much better in 2016. Pocket awareness was a little iffy, but nothing like the last couple of years. He just got worse.

Maybe he was just playing loose, because he wasn't supposed to be anything that first year. But he played well through the end of the year, including the playoff game.

Dude, for every post and paste positive comment you reply with, I can come back with an equal supply if not more of negative/critical comments from both the same sources and different ones.

Did not mean to have my tone come off as so disrespectful on a personal level and for that I apologize.

I am just not a Dak supporter and I will respect your opinion from here on out.

No need to apologize at all. I just don't understand how you cannot support Dak. In 3 years look what the kid has done and hes getting better. What more could you ask for from a young QB then what he has done? And we found this kid in the 4th round. You should be happy as hell to have found this kid. Not sure how any Cowboy fan could not support the kid. Hes been getting paid like 500k a year the last 3 years. I could see complaining about a 30 million dollar salary, but other then a once in a generation type talent like Mahones, your not going to find a better QB prospect and success in his first 3 years.

It isn't black and white. There's a team element and more often than not I've seen how pathetic our offense looks when Zeke can't be effective or when there's not a big play to get us to midfield. Maybe for you making a few plays in some 4th quarter games is all that matters, but I don't ignore or forget leading up to that. This isn't a personnel thing against him, but I don't have a personal attachment to him either like some do here.
You win games in the 4th quarter so yes thats all that matters is can you win the game. Perhaps a beauty pageant is more your style than football. Fantasy football has ruined the actual game of football, people think you have to have these huge games or you are garbage.

Would you rather have a guy throw 400 yards 6 TDs and lose the game or would you rather have a guy throw 250 yards 3 total TDs and win the game?

Just curious, what games has Dak missed? Unless you are maybe talking about a couple of last game of the seasons that were irrelevant and he got Pulled after the 1st quarter
Dak hasn't missed any games.........your point is.

My statement is true. Garrett is 1-11 without Romo and Dak.

So really he is 1-11 without Romo cause we don't know what he is playing without Dak, since he hasn't...LOL

But i guess in your mind all those games Romo missed in between 2010-2015 when Dak was in high school and college somehow count....

That would also mean JG is 1-11 Without Romo, Dak, Aikman, Roger and Dandy Don too...ROFLMAO

P.S. And Danny White
