Even if Garrett said this, was he really wrong about it? It's obvious Irving had more passion for the green than he did for football. That's fine. To each their own but you can't have both as long as it is illegal to use in the NFL. He chose his path. Let's move on.

Correct me if I'm wrong but since he retired, his suspension now won't kick in until he officially unretires?

“He told me I should just quit, smoke all the weed I want, the team didn’t need me,” Irving told USA TODAY Sports in a wide-ranging phone interview Thursday. “I’m a distraction to the team.

Lol good. Agree with clapper on this.

It’s so obvious Garrett is doing stuff like this all the time. It boggles me that it’s not apparent to everybody.

Ex-Cowboys DT David Irving: Jason Garrett told me to 'quit, smoke all the weed I want'

Coaches have to take a stand, because Goodell sure won't. I'm also very impressed with Andy Reid who immediately released Kareem Hunt when news surfaced about him punching a man in the face.

Now the Browns have to deal with the thug after a video surfaced on kicking a woman. Drugs, abuse, theft, doesn't belong in the NFL just as it doesn't in any other working environment.

Suspension of games to a player is a joke by Goodell. They should be automatically terminated, period, end of story, end of paycheck.

Honestly, don't blame Garrett for that response. Either you're helping a team get better or you're making it worse. Irving not be eligible to play by choice inherently means he made Garrett's team worse. So...gotta go.

As an aside, I hope the League changes their stance on enforcing marijuana testing and punishment. Possibly take the approach of the other major sports. Change the threshold for failing the test or how you enforce it.
