I dont know why people are unhappy.

This is the best DT we've signed in a very long time. By all reports he's a capable, reliable rotation guy at the 1 and 3. Who was our last "noteworthy" DT signing, McClain? I guess someone will bring up the D. Irving acquisition but a lot of good that's done us in the long run, however talented he is.

Plus, look at that beautiful, beautiful contract. Heavily incentivized and cheap as hell at max value for the production required to obtain it.

No he's not a top 3 DT at 10M/YR but he's a young contributor with potential at a position of need for a great price.

Just pick for me:

Collins, Crawford, Woods, Ross
Covington, Collins, Crawford, Woods

It’s not him, per say.

It’s that he is our only free agent acquisition that makes the team lol

Nice. Everything I've read and seen about Covington says he's stout against the run/eating double teams. Nice running mate for Antwaun Woods. I'd play him and Woods together on early downs, personally.

His job isn’t to get pressure though. It’s to eat up space and blocks and stop the run.

Considering our defense got its crap pushed in by the rams running game. It’s a solid move.
Winner,, some pieces do not have to cost 50 million.
We will build like we always build..
Sign our own
Cheap out of the gate in FA.
Grab what we can with remaining funds.
and last but not least, always make sure we have a FB on this roster, because we utilize that position so much.

I'm just glad common sense seems to have prevailed in the cowboys front office. I just hope they play him enough unlike when cedric Thornton was signed but Hardley played.i would still like to see them draft another dt

It would still be great if they drafted a really good DT at 58.
Draft pick-Woods
Collins-Covington would make a really nice rotation. I like having two thick run stuffing fellas now. In fact, I would love to see Covington and Woods playing together on early downs.

Poor scheme fit. Seems odd that Marinelli would have signed off on this move.

Do you mean it was mcclay's idea to sign mcclay's idea to sign covinton
Wondering if Richard had more to do with it than Marinelli. After the rams game he may have decided to add some beef on the inside. He is barely over 300 pounds anyways. Not a huge monster.

Covington will play interior, much like when Hatcher moved to the interior when the Cowboys switched from 3-4 back to 4-3

This move kinda reminds me of when we signed that Russian DT about 7+ years ago, Igor what’s his face. He wasn’t a game changer, just a solid rotational piece...

It could be Richard.maybe the cowboys front office is finally put a emphasis on Drs who are good at defending the run instead of rushing the quarterback. I thought Covington only
Weighed 300 but a article I read from Dallas morning news had him listed at 310.

Right. Covington is a good pickup, im with you.

Can play both 1T and 3T. So he can eat snaps at both positions.

He’s a perfect Rod and Jason guy. Versatile and plays multiple positions
