This Randall Cobb venture is just another in a long line of low risk, questionable reward deals -- good luck to us! ;) ~crossing fingers~

I'm curious, In what way do you think Cobb is definitely an upgrade"?
cobb is good - when healthy. he's just never healthy. at best, he has a few flash/glam games a year and it makes people go OOH AH but they don't show you the rest of the year when he's in the MASH unit.

He has two seasons where he missed 17 of the 36 games.

He has four seasons where he never missed a game with an injury.

He has two others seasons where he missed 4 of 36 games with injury.

2014 was a great year.

But just one year.In addition to injuries, it concerns me that hes put up pedestrian numbers since while playing with one of the league's best passers.

In 2017 in one of those "declining" years he was 27th in the NFL in catches with 66. Dez Bryant had 69 catches that year.

Yes and the Cowboys are talking about a replacement for Beasley but the thing is Cobb spent most of his career as the #2 WR on the opposite side of Jordy Nelson and so most of numbers are a reflection of playing WR and not as a slot. He's lost a lot of his quickness and has been injured often the past 2 or 3 seasons. He would be a down grade at the slot if signed. I'd rather see Austin get those snaps.

Well, I hope he’s not as broken down as I think he is. Sometimes a change of scenery is just what the doctor ordered. I hope that’s the case with Cobb.

I have to remind myself that he’ll be the 4th or so option in the passing game. At least his experience will be nice to have in the WR room.

Won’t cost much either.
I am thinking 3rd option, Hurns could be on his way out!

great.

so he then disappears when healthy. even better.

i'm not against signing cobb - don't get me wrong. i just won't have high expectations for him. would love to be proven wrong if we do sign him.

If Cobb is signed it will most likely be Hurns or Austin that is cut. Then again you never know. They may keep all of them for depth in case of injury. Normally the Cowboys carry 6 receivers.

Cooper
Cobb (If Signed)
Gallup
Hurns
Austin
