Tom Brady is in his forties and has already gotten his big payday and lifetime security. It's easy to take less money in that situation. DLAW still wants the payday and long term security that he has earned.
He has earned it, but that doesn't mean he ahs the be the highest paid DE either. It's called a compromise. Even in Brady's prime , Brady took less money so the Patriots could sign other players. If DLAW truly thinks of himself as a team player, realizing Dallas has resign other teammates, he should do the same.

If you can't live on 20M per year maybe taking some finacial and accounting classes might be a wise investment.
18 Million in Texas is 21 million in California.

Florida, Nevada, Texas and Tennessee should all get hometown discounts. If Dallas plays Houston, players get the added bonus game!

Most athletes in all sports don't understand that........those that do understand financial logic could save even more by representing yourself without overpaying an agent........it's not difficult to know where you're at stat wise with comparable other players at your position.

Let's not be naïve. He's talking about Lawrence and the contract situation and that at some point the player has to decide if he wants to win and maybe take less to not muck up the cap.

Of course he is talking about Lawrence, but within the context of the bigger picture. In other words, he's not saying the team couldn't come up to Lawrence's individual contract demands, but rather that to do so would be contrary to the need for salary cap discipline, which is needed to benefit the overall team.

Says everything. Best cap situation that we have been in the history of the franchise; right now as we speak. Drafting is outstanding as well; right now as we speak. Took awhile to get there on both. We have no time machine that the Gov't is willing to admit to so just live for the now.

Best cap situation we have been in - still 0 trophies since the 95 season.

Again, working in extremes is getting us nowhere. You’re okay with mediocrity.

I don't think he should be the highest paid either. However, what other players make on the team is none of his concern. He's earned his payday and should get it.

Nobody should have to take less money for the good of the owner's bottom line.

If these guys want to have the best players, they need to pay them. If that means cutting back on a few Illola signings, and maybe losing a guy like Tavon Austin in the offseason, so be it. It's on them to make the salaries work, not the players

Give him 20 mil a year and let’s go
He’s not gonna play for what he got last year
If he wants much more than let his agent find a team that will pay it and we can make that happen for him

I think Tank and his team are asking for unrealistic amounts, both in guaranteed and bonus. We don't have to meet those demands but we've only had one starter miss time due to salary problem and that was Emmitt. Jerry came around on that after 2 missed games and losses. So obviously a lot of fans think we are the ones holding things up but both sides will get busy near the deadline. Always happens when you're talking about this much money. If they agreed on principle then Tank would be signed . But because he hasn't signed a new deal, tells me that the guaranteed amount and the overall yearly amount is clearly out of touch with reality.

This will really go over well, coming from a coach who hasn’t accomplished anything substantial in his coaching career up to this point and only still has a job due to nepotism.

I’m sure nfl players want a coach like that making comments about player salary.

Post of the day right here. What a sanctimonious azz clown Garrett is.

I have no clue what they are asking
I haven’t seen any credible reporting on it
I have seen reported we offered him basically what we paid him last year and that’s a silly offer

He sure did. More than once Brady took less money so NE could sign other players.
He made 19 mil back in 2011
He wasn’t taking a cheap deal then
He’s made 200 million in the nfl and his first few years were minimum contracts

my one and only hope is that the team stays healty this season so their or no excuses when they don't make the playoffs so that we don't have to hear any more Jason garrett pressers as head coach of the dallas cowboys
