I don't know why my mind must be going don't get old. It's embarrassing also. So I appreciate your not jumping down my throat. LOL was there a third wide receiver we traded for also over the years during the Tony Romo era
They signed TO as a free agent.

Terry Glenn was a trade (6th round pick).

You’re of course more than willing to believe Jerry’s not making any decisions but there’s several decisions which have his name written all over them.

Jerry has always made better overall decisions when he’s had greater HC influence helping him build like with Jimmy and Bill.

Remember what Parcells said” you have to convince Jerry to go against his instincts”.
In the past 3 Seasons What has Jerry implemented. What has his name on it. I believe it all ended with Johnny Manziel.

Exactly! I've been saying it the past 2+ years. Surround Dak with better receivers, a healthy and strong Oline, plus a very good playcalling O-Coordinator, along with a good QB's coach, ...... and watch Dak become a beast.
Bingo you hit the nail on the head, "Surround Dak with better " and there in lies the problem you will not face up to Dak needs to be carried , he can't carry the team, that is not a knock against him, he has played the last 3 years with the most talented all around cowboys team in the last 20 years and still he falls flat with out the total all star supporting cast.

Romo was the 4th highest passer rating in NFL history. Does anyone actually rank him that high? Of course not...
Romo's passer rating ranks 4th all time because of the era in which he played. Staubach, for example, led the league in passer rating four times and has a lower career passer rating than Mark Brunell.

Here I'm comparing Dak with his contemporaries, so there is no difference in era to worry about.

Pretty much.. not sure why fans are any more excited about Dak than they were Romo?

Basically without this Elite surrounding talent we are a .500 team at best with Dak. Which is most likely our future moving forward.

If we had a greater FO and coaching staff we would have figured out how to win a championship with our 2 Rookie sensations before their 2nd contracts came up.

So was Romo, he had below 500 seasons when Talent lacked, when he had guys like Glenn, TO and Dez he had success. I'm not any more excited about Dak than Romo but the notion well it takes talent around Dak to win? lol it takes talent around all QB to win and get a ring. No QB has ever done it alone, hell when is the last time Rodgers was in a SB? I would put his talent as a QB with the best to play the game but the end results is GB has come up short except for 1 season

Do you really believe Dak with his rating is one of the most prolific passing QB of this era?

It is 3 seasons worth of sample size now. Too much time to just be a coincidence IMO. There is something to the argument that Dak plays his best ball, when the game is on the line.
Admitting that some of it may be wishful thinking, I tend to agree that it's likely legit.

Most of the QB who were good over a 5-year period when tied or trailing late in close games were also pretty good QB the first three quarters as well during that time. The only exceptions below would be Eli, Prescott (with still 2 years to go), and then Blake and O'Donnell.

Top 4 (of 20 QB w/most attempts) 4th qtr/OT, tied or trailing by 8 or less
2014-18 Prescott, Roethlisberger, Luck, Brady
2009-13 Rodgers, Brees, Romo, EManning
2004-08 PManning, Warner, EManning, Roethlisberger
1999-03 Garcia, Brady, McNair, Gannon
1994-98 Marino, Blake, O'Donnell, Elway

Romo has one season under .500 with a 1-4 record in 2010.

Of course QB need surrounding talent to win championships but not all to finish above .500 .

I'm thinking there was a third trade Robinson or was that just a free agent or something
Also Keyshawn Johnson was acquired in a trade.

The Cowboys traded Joey Galloway for Keyshawn when Parcells was the HC.

I wonder how many people remember that name. Not many people remember Roy Williams either and I can understand why LOL

I remember staying up late watching the Cowboys play Seattle. I believe it was Julius Jones the running back. The next morning people saying Cowboys suck . I said to them what are you talkin about we won that game. Even back then it's a fourth-quarter game. From the first step to the last snap everything in between is called football. Be good be safe I'm out

I was explaining to you how Romo could be Top 5 all time in passer rating, but not one of the five best QB in NFL history. You seemed to be attributing it to some kind of flaw with the metric. It's actually a reflection of inflated passer ratings league-wide over time.

Dak's passer rating ranks 8th over the last three seasons, but that obviously doesn't make him a prolific passer. "Prolific" refers to production, not efficiency.

I understand why Romo was rated so high and agree. I’ve been shooting down those passer ratings most of this Century.

I believe you can't even begin to rationalize whether he is or isn't. He hasn't even begun his career if you ask me. He's been on the job training. He should have been on the bench learning behind a veteran. I think when it's all said and done he will be a winner in this league

Roy had the ability but I remember going to training camp and watching him in practice where he just goofed around. If a pass didn't land in his hands he would not even try to catch it.

Trivia Note: A black guy in a fancy car next to me at a stoplight motioned for me to roll down my window. He wanted directions. It turned out to be Roy WR Williams. It was back during the time frame that he played in Dallas.

He’s already a winner. The bigger question is will he become a champion.

And surely you can come to some comparisons and evaluations of his career thus far?

It takes a team to become a champion. And I don't know where the pieces are going to fall. Some of the best quarterbacks ever . have never won a championship. This team is extremely young I don't think they know they're not supposed to win. So it's very possible.
