Stephen: Wants Dak's deal done before season

Please let us know when Dak has the supporting cast where we can hold him more responsible .

We had similar arguments with Romo. Lol

Most likely it falls somewhere in the middle between the haters and the homers.

Dak didn't jump on to a 4-12 team either.

Fact is, after all the success Smith had, the league judged him to be worth about $24M a season because of what he showed on tape. When you break it down to individual play, he's a very average starter. Dak's the same way. If you're looking at the plus sides, I'd say he's more accurate than he's given credit for, has enough arm to hit every throw, is mobile enough to legitimately threaten defenses, and does a good job of going through his progressions and not locking onto one man. If you want to look at the downsides, I'd say he has very poor anticipation, struggles against zone, has bad footwork that creates several wild misses every game, and he's not comfortable stepping up to avoid sacks. So if you sum up his skillset and compare it to the rest of the league, I'd say he's somewhere in the 15-20 range among NFL QBs.

That's what teams are looking at. It's not how many games Dak and the other 52 players on the Cowboys roster won. It's not how many Pro Bowls Dak made as the third alternate. It's what Dak the individual player can and can't do for you moving forward, and how much money is that worth to you.

And as far as the OL, Dak's protection here has never been worse than league average and has usually been better. There's a shortage of OL talent across the NFL and most teams are in pretty dire straits.

Says who? Says you? Why would anyone listen to a guy like you when it comes to Dak? You have proven incapable of having a rational conversation about him.

I prefer QBs that are capable of avoiding those close games because he is capable of putting more points on the board by passing the ball. Another point, the offensive line does tend to look bad when the QB holds on to the ball much longer than he needs to.

I really don't care what you prefer. Im sure you would prefer Brady. But nobody really cares.

I think you got the shoe on the wrong foot there, bud. Welcome to the ignore list.

Nah, he just a young QB developing. And his Oline has been horrid at pass blocking. Receivers were terrible before Cooper, coaching stinks. Not the recipe for consistency in any QB.

I would rather take a QB that comes up big in clutch moments and saves the day for his team and gets the win.

The team around him has gotten worse. Some people have a hard time understanding those dynamics.
bad coaching plays a part, so do poor pass blocking schemes, I dont think the ol was bad, it was what they were coached
to do is what was bad.
And I am not saying dak is bad or it is all his fault , but he is doing some things he shouldnt, like not throw the ball away
instead of taking some of the sacks, or getting stripped.
I think he holds the ball wrong and has a poor throwing motion which makes him inconsistent. those could be corrected with
better coaching.
He also should take off and run sooner and more than he does, and just do it safely. but I dont know what he is being coached to do.
But comebacks are most often the result of playing poorly early in the games.
If your leading 27-14 going into the last 7 min of a game , you dont need to comeback. To me thats better than being behind 14-27
and coming back.

Yah, that needing a comeback comment is garbage in my book. The kid is clutch.

For me it’s very obvious. Dak loves the hurry up, spread offense. It’s when he’s at his best. Coaches are too stupid to see that.

He definitely has things to work on. Like most young qb’s. Better coaching would definitely help.

yeah and the supporting cast includes the coaching. Not just the players.
Sometimes I think the 3 stooges could coach dallas better lol or knuck knuck knuck

Romo had the same coaching. But it didn’t prevent him from often top 10 type passing production despite the team’s struggles.
well Romo threw more passes, and IMO had better receivers . as a result he got better at passing, but also had more int's
some of them were very costly like the pick 6 in the game in Pittsburgh.
Tony also had his basketball move that often gave him more time to throw, and more time for someone to come open,
and it also gave him better vision than throwing from a pocket. He also used to roll out to throw earlier in his career.

Dak never mastered that move and he should have tried to learn that move.
But Tony used to throw around 40 passes a game all the time.
if you go back and look at say 2006 thru mid 2009 at what tony did passing, then look at dak in 3 years, it might not be a big
difference.
I think tony had a quicker release, and a quicker brain and that also helped him.

Dak and tony are different types of qb's, and trying to make dak play like tony is stupid.
Our coaches and owners dont utilize Dak the way they should , they should take advantage of what he does well,
not try to make him a romo or brady.

Tony also sat on the bench for 4 years. Dak is about the same age now as Tony when he first started. So lets see what we see now and compare the two.

However, I dont think Dak will ever be as prolific a passer as Romo. And Romo was never the leader, daul threat, game manager Dak is. As you said, completely different types of QB's.

First I’ve heard of the “ basketball move”.

After the next 5-10 years of failure, we will see who is right. You are settling for a below average/average QB and you are defending him as if he is elite. Dallas will look back and regret wasting so many good careers with Dak as QB. I would prefer about 25 of the other QBs in the league over the Tebow clone in Dallas.
