It will be interesting to see how Wentz fairs. I think he has more talent than Foles but his team did not seem to respond to him as well as they did with Foles. In starts that Wentz made his team went 5-6 under Foles they went 4-1 in the regular season.

Those are the facts that Eagles fans can't deal with. If Wentz is all that and clearly better than Foles, why was Foles the guy who won when Wentz couldn't?

I agree. Wentz throws more TD per game, he throws fewer ints per game yet what I saw is a team that seemed to have more bounce in their step when Foles took over and not just offense but defense as well. The results were they began winning and make a serious push which included playoff win vs Chicago

diverting from what?

From your dumb comment that the reason the Eagles let Foles walk was because they had Nate Sudfeld.

That's not why they let Foles walk.

I'll put it another way............ if Nick Foles decided this offseason that he just wanted to finish out his career as a backup and would take $7-10MM per year to do that in Philly.................. he'd be in an Eagles uniform right now and the next great thing, Nate Sudfeld, would be figuring out which Eagles ball cap he'll be wearing this season as the de-activated #3 QB.

The actual conversation is the stress fracture. I dont care if it takes 8 months to heal, as long as he's good week 1

That and the fact that the Eagles no longer have Foles to save their bacon. The part that you don't want to acknowledge.

That guy is gonna have a lot of pressure on him this season. He could relax now that foles is gone but he better perform. This is contract year, if he don’t perform up to par if gets injured again they will likey use the 5th year option on him.

It's an awful lot of pressure on a young quarterback.
  1. He has to stay healthy, which to date he has been unable to do.
  2. He has to win over his teammates who weren't behind him and have negative feelings about him
  3. He has to measure up to the high standards for winning that Foles left behind.
  4. He'll have to deal with constant comparisons to what Foles did.
  5. He will need to validate to the organization that he is worth the big contract extension.
I can't think of a quarterback in the league under more pressure than Wentz.

Nah............. I think the reason you let Foles walk was because he was a FA and you weren't going to sign him for $20MM+ because your cap couldn't handle a backup making over $20MM.

Well, yeah. Sudfeld was the reason we didn't bring in a backup. We let one qb go because we had 3, and yeah 22m for a backup may have been a bit steep

And opposing defenses are going to be coming after him to test his health and mobility. He had the knee injury also.

So, you concur. When you said Nate Sudfeld was the reason Foles walk, you were having a moment of stupidity.

I am fairly confident we would have strongly considered bringing Foles back on the franchise tag or competed with the Jags offer on a shorter deal if we did not have a backup we were supremely confident about given Carson's situation(s).

We gave Malik Jackson 10m$ a year, Desean Jackson 9m$ a year, gave Kelce a raise, brought Peters back at 10m$ a year and currently have 21m$ in cap space

Bringing back Foles for a year would have worked fine. Sudfeld at the very least being a strong part of the reason we didn't entertain the concept is not completely out of bounds.

We've had a very strong backup quarterback for about 20 years now in Philly. It's Lurie's doctrine and definitely a staple of Andy Reid/Doug Pederson's philosophies. Foles, Vick, Garcia, Sanchez, Blake, Young, Daniel... no way we would have let Foles walk to just settle with Bortles or Tannehill.
