Colin Cowherd thinks the Cowboys should draft a Quarterback high in the draft. There is lots of smoke around Dak wanting to be paid like a top tier Quarterback. It will be interesting to see what happens if the safeties have all been picked and a Quarterback like Grier is on the board at 58.
Smart thing to do, 2 years at most and you know if he's the guy and that costs 1 tag so total is 15M averaged, save the $$$$ and avoid a huge mistake, just plain smart. Dak has a over valued view of himself if he thinks he's worth 30M a year, tag him and see if any one wants to give up those 2 first rounders for him.(bet there are no takers)
you are most likely right we will see, unfortunately one thing that can't be fixed is "Stupid".All good and fine, except that 1) Jerry Jones is the owner/GM, and 2) Jerry Jones is all-in on Dak Prescott being our franchise QB going forward.
Anyone remember any major problems Jerry had with paying Tony Romo then-current market-value? Well, he’s not gonna have any problems paying Dak at today’s rate, either...and son Stephen, or anyone else, isn't gonna talk him out of it. You can take that to the bank.
RIF my friend, I said 2 years 1 tag, take the hit next year no 3rd year tag he's signed or gone depending on how he plays after 2 more years.Maybe you didn't read so good. Next year he will get 28 million and the year after that is 30 million. So yah, the price is only 2 million this year, but your still paying those high amounts going forward. Averaging it out looks good on paper, but it does little for your full cap hit next year and the year after.
Plenty of time to work this out, Dak is still cheap this year and the FO knows this. Heck, they could sign a 3 year deal now for 60 million and achieve the same $$$s as this years pay and two franchise tags.
I know there has been a ton of in-fighting on the board about Dak, since that is the case here I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing is happening in the FO. IMHO the Foles contract threw a wrench in this negotiating sequence. We've built a team for a bus driver, not an elite QB. In doing so, maybe they figure they can't keep an elite team and pay the QB an elite price. If Dak was smart, take the 20 million, stay with the Boys and make up the difference as the QB of Americas team in endorsements and fame as the QB of the number 1 marketed team.
Or, take the chance and play out your contract at 2 million this year and let your play this season determine a greater value, if you produce.
Personally, I would be interested to see Dak on the tag next year, just to see if anyone in the rest of the league thinks he is worth 2 1st round picks. Dak could be our Herschel Walker next year. Could you imagine if Mike White actually can produce and we could get 2 1st round picks next year for Dak, that would be a win-win for anyone who considers themselves a Cowboys fan!

We drated Mike White last year. Gotta see what he has in camp. He has the strong arm.
can't disagree with that.If your not confident that Dak is your guy, then your way would be the best way. If you know that Dak is your guy, then signing him now is the best time to do it.
I wouldn't be surprised if they went down that path.
Im all for playing hard ball, but they have to know that he price is only going up.
It’s a safety net.
Let him play out the last year on his deal and see where he is as a QB after 2019.
Maybe Jones should learn to shut his mouth

The question is will White make it over Rush as the backup. We drated Mike White last year. Gotta see what he has in camp. He has the strong arm.
He has played well. He deserves money. The Cowboys will pay him.Is it just me or should a QB wanting top tier money actually play like one first?
