This is all the evidence you need to see as to why these "grades" after drafts are pointless.

2016 is shaping up to be a historically great draft for us.
Zeke, Dak, Jaylon, Collins, Anthony Brown, Frazier (Tapper, Jackson, & Gathers).
A Franchise RB, Franchise QB, Stud LB, Starting 3T, and Starting Slot CB all in one draft.

Our average ranking amongst draft experts compiled in 2016: 25th.

25th for an all-time great draft. C grade.

Enough said.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Great tweet thread by Bobby B:

This makes sense. If anyone, including the braintrust, tell you this went exactly to plan, they are lying.

The trade downs could pretty much tell you that they freaked out a little bit.

They had a little celebration after the Pollard pick, with a bunch of them high fiving. Then it all collapsed.

But overall, they did a very good job of identifying the talent. They just underestimated the draft process.

Some people on this forum are delusional and hate anything this team does that doesnt fit what they want the team to do.

This draft was very good. It filled a need at 3tech depth at the OL and probably a starter nest yr at G or C if Frederick cant go anymore. And then shored up depth and added more depth in other places. This FO knows what its doing. And some of you just need to know your role as a fan instead of a armchair GM.

This is one of the best rosters in the NFL

You would think with one of the best rosters in the NFL they would have more to show for it than a pair of Wildcard wins during the Jason Garrett era.

Just saying.

I don't care about what anyone says/grades,,, I care about the grade most fans here will see when the pads come on and we are in preseason evaluations.
Cards will sort themselves out as they land on the table, no different than every other year.

Discussion is a lot different than a letter grade smart guy.

If grades are not opinions, then why are not all the grades the same then?

Grades are different because the person grading has his own opinions of how good or bad a team's draft is. A discussion is also an expression of opposing opinions, typically of a topic of mutual interest to both parties.

Ergo, a discussion and a grade are both expressions of opinion………………..the fact I have to explain this to grown men is troubling.

This board is infected with whiners. They live for coming here every day and *****ing about something. The draft is like red meat to them. They are going to complain about just anyone the Cowboys drafted. It started immediately after the 1st pick. They will continue to whine until the player shuts them up. Then they will silently slither back under there rock until the next opportunity comes by, I.e. the next move by the FO. It’s as predictable as the sunset.

And yet you constantly whine about the whinners...…..from thread to thread to thread...…...same thing, day after day after day.

The truth is that I do not hate everything this team does and, unlike you, I also do not love everything this team does. I hated our first pick, but I really liked our second pick and even posted that it was a good pick in the draft thread. Go look it up if you dont believe me. Even back in free agency. I said I hated not signing ET, but I loved the signing of Randal Cobb and the trade for Quinn.

See, things are not just black and white where you either hate everything or you just love everything. There are things this team does I really like, and there are things this team does that I really hate. And I post about both of them. Doesn't make me a homer and it doesn't make me a hater either. Its called being a realistic fan. I root for the team, but at the same time I am not afraid to point out mistakes that are made.

At the end of the day, the goal is to challenge for a SB by making deep playoff runs on a regular basis. Using this standard, even Stephen Jones admits that "this team needs to get over the hump". The results under Jason Garrett have not been good enough.

Fence sitting and looking back is easy

I give it a B+ with Amari

I'm going to jump out with an A- since we are including Amari Cooper (as we should... lol).
I'm going to go all in on Hill. They spent a lot of time with him. Sometimes a kid just needs to be wanted.
He has tremendous ability. Great combine numbers. I'm all in.

McGovern was yet another OL with talent one round higher than his selection.
Imo, he could've gone late in 1st and nobody would've given it much thought.

They seem to have high hopes for Pollard with the Kamara comparison.
Honestly, if he shows his return ability at this level, I'd call it a win.

I'm not sure if they outsmarted themselves a bit by trading back to get
more picks, but of the late picks, I liked the Weber pick and the Jelks pick.

To summarize, we addressed the DL and filled the backup RB hole.
A talented offensive lineman falls to us. And, oh yeah, We have an elite
24 year old WR in Cooper.

Whew, that's a bit windy. Okay, now I'm on record... lol.
Assuming, of course, they extend Cooper's contract. (which they will).

It does take a couple of years to evaluate a draft class because you dont know how any of these guys will play. That is not fence sitting, its the truth. Will Hill become a probowl rookie at DT or will he never crack the starting lineup? Will Pollard be a gadget player that makes a huge impact on kick returns and 3rd downs or will he never be used more than two or three times a game and be a non-factor? Unless you got a crystal ball, dont know how you can tell anything about these players 4 months before the season starts.

Typically you look at how many players from a draft class is still on the team three years later. 50% or more is considered an outstanding draft. If you have only 1 or 2 left, then its bustville.

Giving grades at this point is meaningless. That’s my point. You don’t grade a draft until after 3 years. Yet some like yourself like to poo poo on it.

"Another not so glamours pick for the arm chair fans but a great player in the 3rd rd. He will help this team this year."

"Great pick. Now we’ll have some push up the middle which is what this defense has been lacking to become elite. Can’t wait for the season."

"Great pick. This guy is just what the DLine has needed for years. DT/NT with a quick twitch that can put pressure from the interior. Nice."

"Who says he’s going to be on the inactive list? No one. It’s the 3rd rd. He was by far the BPA and you can’t have enough depth on the OL. I guess you wanted an EarlThomas or something like that."

All your quotes. How is that not grading the draft? That's you liking and agreeing with the picks. Just like you giving it an A or a B. That's all people are doing when giving it a grade.

If someone gives it an A then they liked it. If someone gives it a F they didn't like it. The grade is just a quick summary of how the feel about the draft.

"You don’t grade a draft until after 3 years." That's true and most know that but why even discuss it and why say you love certain picks? Why debate others who disagee with your take of liking the picks? Your right, they dont know if it was a bad pick but you dont know if it was a good pick. But you have no issues letting them know that you think they are wrong but take issue if they think you are wrong. If you dont really know until after 3 years, then why not wait until 2022 to give your opinion? Why post on how good the picks were? If others should wait, why don't you?
