I saw this in Bob Sturm’s column this morning

Damn, thats nice. I like it alot! It would be outstanding if he lived up to the hype. Our defense would be a straight wrecking crew, with him crashing the middle and Dlaw and Quinn flying in from the edges.

Would be a race to the qb!

No one can argue the upside of this kid. My concern with him is that it appears that he is a headcase. The history of the Cowboys and players like this is pretty grim. I have no stats to back it up, but I am willing to bet that over the history of the league, players having issues similar to Hill have not fared well either.

I hope I am totally wrong, but I don't think he'll play out his rookie contract as a Cowboy.

I'm trying to figure out where you got " that it appears that he is a headcase." Nothing I've read or heard about this kid indicates he's a trouble maker or head case. He had problems with a changed coaching staff, but he still played.

has Anyone watched the game film between our second and 4th round picks from last year? I will go on record that I think Dallas got the two best non starters in the game :)

I'm not a fan of the Hill pick; all I heard from people who have dealt with him is terms like "coach killer" and "troubled". Was told he doesn't handle things well when they don't go his way.

That being said, he makes or breaks this draft. If he plays up to his talent, then the Cowboys got the 3-Tech this defense needs and will validate this Front Office's feelings on him. It can happen. College isn't for everyone and money is a powerful motivator. Hill could put all of the drama behind him and come in learn how to handle some adversity, buy into the Cowboys game plan for him.

I'd be thrilled if Hill is the player the Cowboys think he is, and would love it even more if it at all helps the Cowboys move on from Tyrone Crawford's contract.

Jerry?!? That’s only if Hill flops. If he does well, it’s McClay’s brilliance...

I give Jerry credit for taking the high risk, high reward strategy. Also for building a sports medicine center. And for seemingly spending more on intelligence gathering than other teams.

I give Clay and staff credit for executing the strategy.

Yeah headcase and not playing out his contract is pretty extreme hyperbole. Sounds more like a case of a bit of immaturity. What I like is joe much he seems to have clicked with Marinelli from the beginning. There’s 32 teams out there, and it sounds like from the moment they met he latched on to Rod despite the odds he could wind up playing for any body. He clashed with one coaching staff but already loves and respects ours.

Basically he's a "steal" or a "reach", depending on who you ask. :muttley:
If he gets his head straight he’s a steal
But so was Irving
It’s all about how much he wants to be great
