Not quite sure I follow you. Are you saying that they screwed themselves in the draft and that any vet is the same talent as Reid?

Even slight improvement is improvement.
Well yes I think they were stupid in the draft...but that's besides the point.

Slight improvement is improvement, but that doesn't necessarily translate to winning. The biggest complaint against Heath is always that he misses tackles. So you get a guy who misses 5 fewer? What's the difference? At the cost it would take, there's no reason to do it.

I'd trade him either Looney or Su'a Filo today for Karl Joseph if that who they were actually calling about.

But I don't see why it would be Collins at this point. They have both of their starting tackle and have invested heavily in both. Left guard is their weak spot.
A straight Joseph for Collins trade is lopsided. Collins is a good enough RT that will cash in next year. I would move him for a pick and/or player. He is gone anyways and that could just motivate getting Williams back at tackle where he probably should be.

I'd take Karl Joseph in a heartbeat...Thing is though...Mayock wants a starter on the O-line. Not sure we can spare one. I honestly don't trust the health of T. Smith...and Fred beard.
Who are you trading for him though? He's a backup safety lol.

Who would make a difference that we could, within reason, trade for?

Got news for ya, Karl Joseph doesn't give this team anything they don't already have, and surrendering OL depth to get him is a colossal waste.
The reality is we aren't going to be able to keep all of those OL, especially if under dog guys like Larry Allen Jr. and even Mitchell Hyatt come out balling in camp.

And Collins has played guard. I even think his best spot might be right guard....but he's not gonna budge Martin out. 2 players...playing out their final year of their rookie contract...making about the same type of money.

Honestly...I don't like the deal.....but if Joseph is the target...I think Collins is the guy that gets you fair value.

Where does Collins play on the Raiders line? He plays tackle and wants to stay there. And the Raiders already have theirs. If they traded for him and shoved him in at guard, he wouldn't resign there anyway and it would end up being a one year rental.

So trade them for a pick. Trading them for more of the same on defense doesn't make anything better.

As much as the DL cost us in the Rams game, Heath was just as horrific.

A better strong safety in run support might make that game a lot more competitive.

It is not just about missed tackles. It is about bad reads and poor angles to ball carriers.

Falling out of bed, Joseph is better than anything this team has at strong safety.

I have heard more than one nfl "expert" say next year's draft will be very short on o-linemen. Ergo the calls make perfect sense. Stephen is wise to wait. An injury to another team's lineman in tc only raises the value of ours.

And the Raiders already have theirs.
Not exactly. Kolton Miller has a chronic knee issue. They did pay Trent Brown, but if Miller has problems all year long, they will need a tackle. They are also hurting at LG, Collins could go there. If he wants to stay a tackle, that's something he can market in free agency. Who cares what he wants if there is a trade?

If they forced him to play guard, the Raiders would be ensuring themselves of a one year rental, and a guy who wouldn't sign a new deal there.

Their big need is at left guard, where Chaz frickin Green is in contention for the job. Nothing worse need be said.
