Dak is likely a fairly unique situation. I can't think of many QBs drafted where he was or even lower that had the initial success and blossomed. Brady is the closest and I am in no way claiming he's Brady. Wilson is another, but he was drafted higher than Prescott in the 3rd round.
At this point, it's really hard to discern where Dak will go in his career because he's a fairly unique case. Odds are he doesn't get better but that's a theory that applies to Wentz and others because when you look at all the QBs who have come through this league, say in the last decade, the majority have sucked or were mediocre and largely never improved.
Those that did improve over time isn't a huge number.
There may not be many, but the they were high first rounders. Alex Smith, Eli Manning, Joe Flacco (for a period of time), Matt Ryan, Cam Newton. These are guys who did pretty much nothing on their rookie contracts, got big extensions, and then clearly blossomed into top-of-the-leaderboards type QBs. It's not all first rounders, not even most. But players get picked in the first round for a reason: longterm potential. The team saw the potential for this to happen.
