I enjoy the preseason games. Not only is it a chance for bubble players to make an impact but you get to see guys develop and how they are coming along. Some guys don't get playing time in the regular season and this is a way to show what they have learned. They would more than likely agree to decrease the number of preseason games. If they went from 4 to 2, I would be all for that. Much rather see regular season games then preseason.

I understand those that only want 2 preseason games though.
They better extend the number you can carry on your roster.
While I don't think pre-season games are as entertaining, they're essential for the staff to evaluate new or young players and building a final roster. 4 is barely enough.18 regular season games, 2 preseason games.
The players clearly are doing to have some big demands so the owners are already setting the bar high for what they want.
Two more regular games are going to put more wear on the players. My comment was in regard to extending the roster for reserve purposes. This would only help special teams. It's not like additional players are going to start in place of Dak, Zeke, Tyron, Martin, LVE etc, in those extra two games.
There isn't this pool of NFL-ready players waiting to start in the NFL if not for the roster limits.
If anything, they need to cut the seasons back to 14 games. That would extend a lot of careers.

It would help the entire team if there were more reserve players to rotate in or play if a player gets injured. Not just special teams.I know, which is why I said it would only help special teams. There aren't players out there that can alleviate the wear on starting caliber players.
My fear is that the league will offer the NFLPA a 12.5% salary increase across the board, and they will take it.
This could mean 22 games on Zeke's legs if they made the Super Bowl. That's almost two full seasons in Jim Brown's day.
agree, and I dont want to hear how dangerous it is. There will always be gladiators that want to play. Hockey players take a beating as well. The extra 2 games is coming... its inevitable. If you feel it is too long for you, skip 2 games. The football season is too short. Two extra games with an extra bye week would be awesome.
Go and give each team three bye weeks for all I care. I want football to last longer!
If I'm a player under the current salary and I'm expected to play two more games I better be getting an increase in pay. No player in their right mind would agree to anything less.
Very risky otherwise and being healthy is their bread & butter.
That being said, I'm such fan of football that I would love to see more games, but there needs to be roster, salary changes and an extra bye week. IMO
If they want 18 games they need to cut the PS by 2 games, add another Bye Week and about 15 players to the game day roster
They told the players the same thing last time and they were still calling their reps wanting it to end. It won't be any different than last time. MAYBE 2 games and they'll cave.
Playing in a regular season game is completely different than a preseason game. The starters barely play. Reducing the 4 preseason games is a mistake. There's not exactly all sorts of time to build a roster as it is.I imagine they would reduce preseason to 2 games, and if so it will still be the same number of games, so I doubt the owners will concede that point.
There will likely have to be some concession by the owners when negotiating a new CBA though.
NFL minimum is over half a mil, and players making double digit millions is common, and you're still complaining about pay?The NFL is shoveling the money down, and the players received a pretty small portion. This time, they will be prepared. They have been warmed by the Players Association, to be ready for a period without pay after next season. The word is out, to show up or shut up...
