Wentz deal probably clarifies Dak’s deal and make it easier as it helps to set the market. It was a couple million/year less than I thought it would be, too, though they guaranteed him more than I thought they would. I don’t think it ends up being a roadblock for Dak, either way. The Cowboys are just taking their time, like they always do with these things.

Because without the . . . "COWBOYS" WIN/LOSS Record . . . Dak is Painfully Average
Without the Cowboys win/loss record Aikman wouldn’t be in the Hall of Fame - not even close. I’m not saying Dak is as good as Aikman, but winning is the goal, and it does matter.

I understand the premise of his argument but his opinions dont change the fact; All QB's have a win/loss record on their stat sheets.

We will never know how important Dak is, to the success of this team, until he misses a couple of games.
If he keeps running like he does it's just a matter of time.

It's not a great stat to judge a QB by, which is his point. I mean, Prescott gets credit for a "win" against Oakland in 2017 and yet he played horridly, I mean like bottom of the NFL backup type QBing in that game. In what world should we judge that performance as strong because he was lucky enough to log a win that day?

Further, Prescott fans only like to use wins when it suits their purpose. For example, they love citing wins and losses now and attribute that to him, but in 2017, they didn't want to apply win/loss records to him then............. instead it was "well he doesn't have Zeke, and his WRs aren't good and his OL was poor, blah, blah, blah................"
It's too late I have Jeff Heath penciled in for winning that game in Oakland.

Wentz didn't shatter the qb market with his deal. He could have conceivably held out and topped Wilson, Rodgers and Worthlisberger's deals, but he didn't. So that's good for our 'Boys.

On the other hand, there is no chance Dak takes less than Wentz when it comes to his contract. Wentz has played at an MVP level for stretches, but Dak won Offensive Rookie of the Year and has never missed a game. He's won multiple division titles for the Cowboys. That matters. Also mattering? Dak IMO has been severely underpaid thus far in his career relative to Wentz.

Spending the first three/four years of his deal on a 4th round rookie salary will likely incentivize Dak to make as much money as he can on his next contract, especially considering his age 26, meaning he might get just two full length deals, although considering how the Cowboys operate he'll probably sign 13 extensions between now and 2025.

Getcha popcorn ready, Jerry will pay his boy more than Wentz. It may always be sunny in Philadelphia, but things are always bigger in Texas.

It's not really 25 per year. It's 32 per year on the new money.

If he had been a free agent that was franchised this year and then signed this contract, it would be about 32M per.

Example:
Jan 2016: You sign a lease for office space at $5K per month on a 4 year contract.

Jan 2018: You extend your lease for an additional 4 years at market rate of $10K per month.

2016 $5K
2017 $5K
2018 $5K
2019 $5K
2020 $10K
2021 $10K
2022 $10K
2023 $10K

If you looked at other office space prior to signing the extension, the comparison rate for 2020-2023 is $10K. It's NOT $7.5K or $8.33K.

The deal is basically a 25 mil per year deal over the next 6 seasons, as I see it. The guaranteed portion of this deal is 107 million and not 128 million. You can call it what you want but that's what it is. The lease thing is all well and good but it doesn't change the bottom line of this contract X.

This Post gets a Face Palm . . . Weak and a little Pathetic

This man watched his team win a Super Bowl a couple years ago. . . Which was a result of all the Right Moves that Front Office made

Meanwhile the COWBOYS. . . Not so much. . . Jerry publicly berated And Ran off Jimmy Johnson . . . Then when Jerry had the ULTIMATE WEAPON in Zeke in 2016. . . :lmao2: He decided to Ride with the Inaccurate Inexperienced "ROOKIE:huh: . . . Genius !!! . . . Pure Genius:facepalm:

Yeah As Far as TRUST GOES . . . I put Mine In McClay only . . . But as far as OutSmarting Jerry I give the Edge to Philly

Everyone is welcome to an opinion. I suppose that is yours.

For comparison purposes to other contracts it's 32M per.

The only purpose for fans/media to know the contract average is for comparison to other players/teams. The 25M number is meaningless for that purpose.

Well that's what we are talking about right? I mean, it's comparison so that we can gauge what we might expect to see Dak get offered. I mean, I really don't give two figs what other teams players make, other then to see how it might effect what we have to pay.

However, I don't see the 32 million thing at all. Is the contract 107 mil guaranteed? Is it a 4 year extension to the existing 2 years already on the books? does 4 divide into 107 at about 26.750? I mean, if they do, and they do X, then it's not 32. Now if you want to say that if he reaches all the kickers, that's fine but we don't know what those are and we can't even begin to guess what those might be for Dak so you gotta go with what is guaranteed, which is how both agents and players look at contracts. It's an additional 107 over 4 years.

I agree with this statement about the win loss but not about Aikman. Aikman could have played in any offense when he came out. He was that good. If the Cowboys don't win with the Turner Offense, then it stands to reason that they would have changed Offenses and if that happens, there is no way of telling what numbers Troy could have posted, depending on the Offense. I think there are too many variables to make a declarative on what Troy's career could have been in that situation.

It doesn’t surprise me the number of arguments around Wentz’s contract to try and trash Dak and the Cowboys.

Even if he did, what does THAT matter? Except to “fans” like yourself who don’t count.

I wouldn't sweat it Alex, which I know you don't. Rockport saying you don't count is like somebody saying............

Wait, what? Oh, I forgot what I was saying. I guess I said nothing.

See what I mean Al?
