Dak isn't elite and can't carry an average team with average talent.

...Have to disagree there...in theory that sounds logical, yet...if Dak has a stellar year and /or the other QBs get their money...then the cost of his contract will be significant compared to what it might be next week or so....I believe he's proved he's reliable enough to get a deal done sooner rather than later...jus' sayin'...

You keep referencing 2017 as an off year for Dak and you're right but I'm guessing you've heard rookie QBs taking a step back their second year is not unusual at all. Can't count the times I've heard many current and former coaches and GM ( even Landry, Jimmy Johnson, Bill Walsh etc ) say the true measure of a QB progress is the 3rd year. Other words, possible sophomore slums are real. It's how they bounce back. Surprised you haven't heard this.......
