This is such a stupid argument.

"The FO is dumb....so I encourage them to allocate resources stupidly..."

Like what in the world.

The argument is based on if the team had the money Zeke will be owed then look what the team could get.

But that's a fallacy since history over the last twenty years says they couldn't pick a one horse race.

Now you have an exceptional talent, but because the league suggests letting that go because all the other guys at that spot got old has two distinct flaws.

One is not all things are equal. If for no other reason, the offensive line makes this argument swing Zeke's way. And just because most players at that position got old doesn't mean this guy will sometime into his second contract. The rebuttal is Emmitt Smith. You guys are arguing that your crystal ball is accurate. You ignore the history of this team suggests this cut and run attitude isn't always correct.

The second is this team isn't littered with premiere talent.

And if that doesn't sell it, then what does this team do when Zeke is out of the line-up?

After his 5th year option and 2 tag years, yes, I would let him walk.

And Zeke and his agent are simply idiots....and we won't have another Emmitt Smith situation on our hands.....ok bud just be ready for his new extension making him the highest paid HB in the league before kick-off this season....

P.S. Talent of this caliber gets PAID!!!!!

Zeke is the best RB in the league and on a Hall of Fame pace and showing no signs of slowing down.
This is a run first offense.
The offensive line talent doesn't guarantee a great running game so you simply cannot just throw any run of the mill RB in the starting lineup

This thread like every Zeke thread will be littered with posters who made the same arguments before we drafted Zeke. They hated the pick. Came here over and over telling us you don’t draft a RB in the first round. Blah blah blah.

They were clearly wrong before. They are wrong now.

The good news for the fans that appreciate the impact a player of Zekes caliber has on the game have the Cowboys front office and probably the FO of every team in this league on their side.
ZEKE ISN’T GOING ANYWHERE.

Doesn't make sense to tag him first, dump a bunch of money in his lap and see how he conducts himself. Before you tie up your future, You do not need a superstar RB to win consistently in the NFL.

I wouldn't let him walk while he is being productive but I would over use him till he is spent and not pay him.

Please explain how this team has used the salary cap to EVER put a winner on the field. That argument glies only if the FO can produce a competitive team that is in the NFC Championship game.

Otherwise this is just people playing Madden on this site.
You missed the point. Without a salary cap there is no doubt that Dallas would field one of the best teams. All the top players would go to Dallas because they would get paid.

The guy finds trouble quicker than he finds daylight.
Always clamoring to be fed but leaves meat on the bone.
Spends more time in Goodell's office than in the end zone.
Let him walk, hell I'd make him run :lmao:

Sad to say I agree. The off field antics aren't worth the cost.

I’m not seeing how anyone has been proven wrong about Zeke. There are plenty of people, including the majority of NFL GMs, that don’t value the RB high enough to select one in the top 5-10 overall picks...or even the entire first round.

Zeke being a top running back doesn’t prove them wrong. They didn’t hold that opinion because they thought Zeke would ‘bust’.

When multiple teams start winning SB titles because of the high draft value they have placed on the RB position, then you can make such a conclusion. It’s a silly conclusion to come to now.

Considering how much weaker the oline was last year with Fredericks out, Williams playing too small and it showed, and Tyron Smith with his back problems at times, Zeke was able to play ball pretty good.
Hope the line is much improved. Saw some stuffs on 3rd and one and many pressures on Dak last year

I loved the pick for Zeke. Perfect compliment to Romo's passing ability. Cowboys knew Zeke's antics in college. They calculate worst case scenario Romo can carry team for 5-7 games if Zeke pops off again.

Leveon Bell sat out a year. Today's game doesn't pay RBs even if you are generational. Rams just paid...Are you willing to deal with off field antics..not worth the price.

If we do sign Zeke, I want team friendly regardless of market value. His antics skew logic

IF there was no salary cap there's no question everyone would want Zeke. But based on how cheap running backs are in the draft and how quick they have a impact on the game......its just not a smart way to use your salary cap.
You can’t easily find a RB in the draft like Zeke. Not even close.

"team friendly" doesn't exist. These guys aren't interested in giving home town discounts. They are really only interested in one thing...making as much money as they can possibly make. The Cowboys will make Zeke the highest paid RB in football whether the fans agree or not. I suggest we all resign ourselves to that inevitability. My thoughts are that we should let him play out his contract and then franchise him. But we've seen the Steelers take that route and get nothing in return for Bell. No, Dallas will pay Zeke and we will have another 5 years or so of high level play from him before the inevitable decline starts. Let's just hope we get a super bowl in that time.

Not all RB make an impact just as not all WR make an impact or any other position. Sure Dallas could get a low cost avg RB but impact players any all position cost money if you want to keep them. I don't recall any Dallas team winning without a top RB. Has the game evolved over the years sure but having a player like Zeke and the impact he makes in my view is worth keeping. This dime a dozen non sense is BS, every position you have guys who are a dime a dozen, playmakers are not

I keep hearing people question Zeke's talent. He is a man amongst boys when you watch him out there. Nobody wants to tackle this guy and even when you brace yourself too he embarrasses you by running over you, stiff arming you, hurling over you, cutting around you or outright just blowing by you. There's many a times multiple tacklers are coming head on and he barrels right into them and collects another 3-5 YAC. No other RB in the league does this. Yes, not even Saquon Barkley. None.

In all honesty, Zeke is the most talented player we have on this team.

Yep, for the kind of money he will want, he can walk. It's not a question of how good he is because he's a top 5 back but no team needs a top 5 back unless he's a hitter in the pass game like Kamara.

A lot fans don't know squat. Zeke is a stud!

No question there, hoss. The only problem is the pounding he takes every game. How much abuse can he take before he ain't elite anymore? How much is a good, but not elite back worth against the cap? Emmitt prolonged his elite status by being able to avoid a great deal of punishment. Zeke goes at it more like Marion Barber.
