Jerry is PO'ed

Amazing that fans came to Elliott’s defense in the Domestic Violence case.

Yea, we’ll defend him slapping around women but don’t dare hold out on your contract. Simply amazing .. lol

As I recall, you were REALLY hating on the guy for "slapping around women" so now you've done a little 180 yourself Huh?

Can’t back it up? The 2016 O line was arguably the best in the NFL. The past two years it’s been top 5-10. That’s not opinion.

Lol, ask Irvin how many league leading rushers have won a Super Bowl in the past 20 years. This offense was built to run behind an incompetent OC which we no longer have.
Actually this OL was built to protect Romo. We stumbled onto the dominating running game inadvertently while trying to take pressure off of Romo. And it presented Romo’s most Effective season in 2014 .

Then in 2015 we became so arrogant with the OL we let Murray walk and platooned a RB by Committee which failed miserably placing the pressure back on Romo. The OL couldn’t protect him and he never started another game again and it abruptly ended that season.

As a result we reacted with using the 4th overall pick on another Elite RB to run behind this OL because the rushing game had became our strength. And now without a prolific passing QB it still is. And why this threatens our offense and Elliott has so much leverage. Otherwise we’d tell him to buzz off.

That’s right and my prediction and relentless arguments the suspension would uphold was strongly opposed by many fans. And I also argued what the effects could be by derailing our season.

I believe I was right on all accounts. And I did call out DV as well and believe he was guilty of violating the NFL Personal Conduct Policy.

I still can’t stand the guy but I want him on the field.

How exactly did 2015 fail miserably?

We we’re 9th in overall rushing yards in 2015, averaged .2 yards less per carry and had almost 90 less carries than 2016.

So if you do the math, had we had the same amount of carries in 2015 as we did in 2016 then we would have had 90 less overall yards. Hardly worth paying an “elite” running back for that small of a difference.

Something tells me they drafted 2 RBs just in case Zeke held out. I don’t think they were completely caught off guard. Seems like they tried to prepare for it.

We don't need the best running back in the league to be good, but we certainly need better than what is on the roster currently.

Zeke screwed us by waiting until the start of camp to not show up, he (or his agent) knew what they were doing.

Because we finished 4-12. The results are all that matters.

Tell me this. If the Cowboys thought our rushing attack and RB’s was fine in 2015 why did we use the 4th overall pick on Elliott?

Measuring yards alone doesn’t take into consideration impact or presence and why stats alone don’t always tell the story.

Much like a WR1 often allows for other receivers to get open if they draw double coverage. But that doesn’t show up in the stats. You’d have to watch the games and see the impact of their presence on the field.

I’m not sure they knew until after their meeting with the Commish and their decision not to suspend him.

I kinda doubt he holds out if he’s suspended:)

I’d add we do need one of the best RB in the league to be good enough to contend for a championship. It’s tough enough not having an elite prolific passer.

How much choice does he have? Training camp has started and he doesn't have a team yet. And he's also coming off of an ACL injury which requires him to "prove" that he's healthy.

But if you think he's in position to demand big money, I'm open to hearing your argument?

He was traded away from the Dolphins to the Eagles because he clashed with Adam Gase. But he excelled at both places. And his contract expired after he injured his other knee and he's now a free agent.

I'm not looking at him as a bellcow running back or the lone "answer", just a proven player who can get me through the season as part of a committee. Just like he did for the Eagles when they won their Super Bowl.
I would sign Jay Ajayi also. If Zeke holds out until week 10 or so he'll have fresh legs for the playoffs...and have lost a boatload of $$$$s.

So the 200 yards in rushing difference was also the difference between going 4-12 vs 13-3? Lol, c’mon man. I understand Zeke brings different elements to the game but not that much of a difference. I believe you also said 2015 was a horrible year for our run game which I proved to you is absolutely incorrect.

Why did they draft a RB 4th overall? Because they’re idiots.

I didn’t say 2015 was a horrible year in rushing. That would be silly with McFaddens 1,000 yards only starting 10 games.

The mistake was going with Randle early on which didn’t protect Romo enough like with Murray did. Romo was back having to carry the offense making things happen and left vulnerable again for injury.

And you still haven’t answered why if the Cowboys were pleased with 2015 rushing they used the 4th overall pick in 2016 on Elliott???

Idiots is a lame answer. They obviously believed what they had wasn’t enough.

In reference to 2015 and the rushing game you said “it failed miserably”. That’s close enough to horrible for me.

They’re idiots is a perfectly acceptable answer. No running back is worth that high of a pick just like no running back is worth what Gurley got or Zeke allegedly wants. Tell me the last RB drafted in the top 5 that won a Super Bowl with the team who drafted him, even top 10 for that matter. And if you happen to find one, how many times has that happened since Emmitt which was ~25 years ago?

I said the RB by committee failed miserably. I didn’t specifically say our rushing game failed . Obviously McFadden had a solid season.

It was the impact early in the season of RB by committee with Randle which made Romo more vulnerable and ultimately wasn’t enough to prevent a horrible season.

Impact and effects matter. Despite some solid rushing yards by McFadden the RB by Committee was a failure and why we used our 4th overall pick on Elliott.

Trade the bum. Had enough of him and can't trust him off the field. Dez Bryant #2 adios.

I’m only here to report and comment on the actual events and how and why we reacted the way we did.

I’m not really interested in your narrative. Of course they’re idiots . That’s a given. But these idiots run Cowboys Football and the basis of the discussion which includes the effects thereof.

Using the stat that only a couple league leading rushers have won a SB is simply a stat you’re using to spin your narrative. It has no other meaning.

There’s been several Elite RB’s who didn’t lead the league in rushing but near the top who have won Super Bowls.

And there’s been more, especially over the past 20 years, that weren’t high picks. Point being, it’s been proven over and over that a team doesn’t need an elite RB to win championships in todays league.

That’s true. But most had an Elite QB or defense which we don’t have.

The point is our dominating Running game has been our strength without an Elite QB. If you take that away or even lessen it without an Elite RB presence, who’s going to carry the team? Our QB or defense??

I’m fearful it reduces our ability to contend as strongly.
