I don't know if this was addressed to me or not but it didn't work out great for Bell IMO. If you think it did, that's fine but I don't see it that way. Bottom line, he is no longer with Pittsburgh and that is kinda the point, which is where I started with the whole Zeke discussion.

it wasn’t. It was in response to stasheroo. And I don’t think that Le’Veon wanted to be with the Steelers any longer much like AB. They’re cheap and seem to only value Ben

“2nd best money”.
As a free agent.
With no draft pick compensation involved.

Having not been suspended for domestic violence for 6 games and narrowly missing another one two weeks ago.

Bell was suspended in 2015 after being arrested for DUI and possessing weed. He was suspended again in 2016 after missing drug tests.

Considering that along with sitting out a year, he did well to get $35 million guaranteed.

personally I don’t put any stock in a bigger deal from the Steelers but if so obviously that backfired. As far as the jets are concerned they seem to have some promise as of right now, and he forfeited a yr of insane usage for a long term deal that is commensurate with the market. He also stuck it to the Steelers who have apparently become a toxic organization, while holding true to his principles.

I'm always skeptical of rumors like that, which is why I included the words "if that's true". It may be true, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. We've seen too many times where things on the internet either aren't true, or if they are nothing ever comes out to back it up, leaving the story less than credible.

I understand your point about saving a year of wear and tear and signing a deal commensurate with the market, but I have to wonder if he could have signed a similar deal with Pittsburg and not had to forfeit $14+ million. In the end I guess the question is whether the net effect really results in him getting paid commensurate with the market considering it cost him $14.5MM to get that deal.

I can agree with this, I think the franchise tag in particular is a crapshoot and sketchy proposition for running backs, and I thought he weathered it well even if it didn’t work out to in the optimal outcome

Stephen Jones stated that the Gurley deal is the floor, so this is not really news to me. Sometimes the Jones talk waaaay too much,
He said "probably" and he never said that's where "we're" starting the negotiations at. He could've, And I think he did, mean he knew that's where the agent was going to start it off at.

who gives a crap what they say in public. They have apparently been talking for a while with Zeke's people. The REAL offer has been relayed. Thats what matters. Im glad they are doing exactly what they are doing. Everyone use dto always talk about how stuid they were when we were in cap hell. Now they are trying to keep us from cap hell and people are complaining.

It matters what they say in public, because by making that statement they gave Zeke camp the parameters of the contract for Zeke, and now the Jones want to use the lessor contract of L. Bell to negotiate with Zeke, that’s why what you say during a public negotiation is relevant.

The fact I had to break this down for you shows me you are not very informed of the big picture concerning these negotiations, I would suggest a tab bit more research.

I'd be more sympathetic if Zeke didn't have another two years and all his bonehead decisions that affected the team as a result.

I completely get a player trying to get paid what they're worth, particularly RBs who are driven into the ground. But if you make a habit of giving out big money to players well before their contract is up, you're going to have a lot of people knocking on your door with their hands out. I hope they get something done soon, but I get the stalemate by Dallas. They have to worry about Dak and Cooper's contract, too.

By mentioning the Gurley contract he guaranteed that’s where his agent would start.

I’m

That’s cute and all, but we are talking about the ZEKE impact, meaning when ZEKE wasn’t playing. Those 45 games include Zeke also playing with Smith. When Dak played without Zeke, but played with Smith, meaning THOSE THREE games, Dak was garbage.

For you to sit there and use this as proof “but some will be fooled” makes me chuckle, considering how ironic it is.

Dak Prescott and Dallas is 4-0 in the last 4 games without Zeke. The offense has scored 20, 30, 36, and 38 point in those games. Dak has averaged around 270 yards and 2 tds in those games.
