The greatness of "ignore"

I have a couple on ignore. Most of the time if I do place someone on ignore I will go back and unignore months down the road.

There are some rascals on here, but sometimes even the rascals make a good point, and I like to experience the site from all angles.

It is a good feature though. Some of us weren't meant to get along. Lol

It’s like .. who is worst . The Whiners or those whining about the Whiners. Lol

It’s all part of the big wide world of the Internet. As Sir Charles accurately said years ago” it provides every moron with a keyboard a voice”.

In 36 years at Texas Stadium we had more Cowboy fans removed than opposing fans.

If you don’t have the tolerance for opposing views or fans getting in your face should stay at home. Same concept in Social Media.

I can tolerate opposing views, but I'm not going to tolerate anyone getting in my face.
But yes, to your point, I can always move on to the next post or topic on social media.

People judging those who occasionally use "ignore" are kind of being hypocrites
:muttley:
Free world, free forum, and freedom to ignore whomever the hell we want!
Having said that, it takes someone who gets way too personal before I'd use the feature. Kind of a once a year thing, maybe.

Same reason I don't watch a few isolated tv channels or movies....just matter of preference. If someone else enjoys them, go for it.

Hmm....
Now you’re ‘judging’ me for ‘judging’ people

I think I've only put one person on ignore but since have taken him off.
I think I'm on a few ignore lists but that's when I argued more doggedly.
Maybe I'm getting older and more mellow, but I don't have the time for long drawn-out arguments. And, truthfully, I recognize that such arguments are many times about ego, pride, arrogance and not wanting to relent. Now, I'm more willing to relent so there would be no need for anyone to put me on ignore. Not that I would care.
I think I'm still on ignore for challenging one fan's opinion that Noah Brown is the steal of the draft. Judging by Brown's career, I likely will stay on his ignore list forever.

Here's extreme example to make a point. Not literal.

Assume you had to scroll through every TV channel before you got to ones you wanted to watch.
Assume certain ones include content you would never want to read and in fact, it kind of makes your day worse for a bit (think child rape TV or something crazy like that). Who cares if you can man-up and handle watching it for that second before moving on? I tend to think the whole experience is better if you don't have to see it at all.

Like I said earlier...NOT judging anyone that doesn't use the option, but to me, it on very rare occasions comes in handy.

Only one on My list, for a specific reason that I can't go into after being warned by Our convivial host about indirectly or directly calling anybody out.
But I will say that it had nothing to do with them being abusive or not liking their opinion.

The term hypocrite is only judgmental if you take it that way. Otherwise its just a dictionary definition of something that happens.
Kind of like if you say I'm 6 ft tall and I say how dare you judge me for only being 6 feet tall...even if it's true.
Facts are facts

If somebody doesn't use the ignore function, I would never judge them for it. Don't really think they should judge me if I do (on very rare occasion) use it. But then again, no big deal either way.
Just a silly message board.

I believe some get an artificial sense of value and self-worth from being long-time contributors to a message board that literally gets no recognition outside this little echo chamber. This thread being a prime example. OP actually believes that players on the team read his thoughts here, which paints a picture of their insatiable ego. If you're looking for validation from strangers here, you're pretty pathetic in my book. I could give a crud who likes or ignores my posts.

Man, I've tried that unignore maneuver, it's proved a useless tactic, as after cutting sign of them again, it only proved as to why they'd gotten the ignore blanket to begin witho_O

Never used it, never will. I don't need an ignore button to ignore people. If I did, I wouldn't have ever seen this thread.

I have ignored 1 poster here when I first started found it to be very unbearable.

This forum is great because unlike other places you don’t see their posts when quoted.

But you see the post of someone you have in Ignore if someone responds to that, don't you? And is that response usually a threat to put them on Ignore?

I like the threats of Ignore for someone to get me to stop doing something, like calling Booger Booger. If I met the man, I would call him that, I've almost forgotten his real name. I've referred to him as that in conversations and then have to explain and if they weren't watching the opening of ATT, they'll never understand it.
