Prescott, who replaced Romo as the Cowboys’ starting quarterback when Romo was injured in the 2016 preseason, has earned that, Romo said.

“In the NFL — quarterbacks, running backs, receivers — it doesn’t matter. It’s about the production,” Romo told CBS Sports HQ. “Are you winning? Are you helping your football team win? And are you producing? And Dak’s done that since the moment he stepped on the field.”

The Cowboys also are working on deals with Cooper and Elliott — Elliott remains a holdout from training camp — but have expressed confidence at getting all three signed to long-term deals. Romo said it’s a matter of when, not if.

“All three of these guys, their deals are going to get done,” Romo said. “It’s just fun for people to talk about while it’s going on.

“They’re all great players, and I think it’s just a matter of time before they get paid.”

LOL
Romo is a company man through and through

Hey Dak-Zoids its the smart play what else is Tony gonna say the truth that Dak sucks?
Think about the blow-back that would create for him esp in his new career.
Common sense goes a long way in life fellows!!!!
Romo is the type to not say anything at all if he felt that way.
This was his honest answer.

Sometimes his honesty is so straight it even has gotten him in trouble.

Recall the bad end of season game vs Philly in 2008?
His dad was battling cancer and he'd just played poorly in a home loss that ended the season. He had about an hour to stew on it and when asked about it, he waxed philosophical and said that worse things could happen than losing a football game.
1000% percent right and grown man's answer vs a high school kid thinking a game instead of losing his dad would be the worse thing that could happen....but not really a good thing to say when the fans are still hurting.
After that he just started biting his tongue (usually) if he had something to say the fans may not like. Lesson learned

Oh yeah, and the next year the team smoked Philly in the season ending battle for the division title and then again in the playoffs

Don’t speak for Romo. You have no idea what you’re talking about. Go call your buddies to help you out. Willie lost too.

What would we expect Romo to say? This is fluff.

I wish i could be a fly on the wall of your grandmas basement went he gets paid to see your reaction

Won't shed a tear bud as its not my money and after 24 years of Jerry Ball we are used to disappointments by our FO decisions.
Now make sure it doesn't flip the other way but your set with your Hennessy ....good choice!

30? 30? I'm hoping for 40 so we can see you bow out and go root for a different team. Isn't that what you said or am I confusing you with one of your buddies?

Since when does Romo openly bash anybody? He didn’t even bash TO.

He also wanted the chance to compete for his starting job back and knew fully well that he was getting hosed for the mediocre QB. Notice how he didn’t even mention Dak as a pocket QB and skill set, he basically pointed to the production, meaning the team winning.

He also picked the Jaguars to win the SB last year with Bortles as QB.

This is the truth, end of story.
