The Speed at wide receiver is the best I've ever seen at camp

We have a ton of speed at camp this year. I recall the teams of the 90s and they never had this much potential speed and they can catch. When we traded for Galloway it was like WOW but he was really all we had that season. The Tony Romo teams had T.O. and Glenn. Dez and Twill weren't fast. Miles Austin had nice speed.

The guys we have at camp have lots of potential. Guys like; JonVea Johnson, Jalen Guyton, Reggie Davis, Devin Smith and our own Tavon Austin. We have a ton of speed. Dak has alot to use. Even the tight ends like Jarwin and McElroy have some speed for their position. When teams put 8 in the box. Look out for Dak and this group of pass catchers. We have potential for huge gains. I like JonVea Johnson he just looks like he belongs here. Smith and Reggie Davis really have caught my eye. I like Austin but Davis in my eyes has more potential in the slot than austin. Davis has a little more size at 5"11 and he even looks faster than Austin. Davis has nice size to go along with his speed. If we end up with Cooper, Gallup, Cobb, Johnson, and Davis I wouldn't be mad at all. I'd also like to place Noah Brown at Tightend. If you watch any game he has played in , he is the best blocker out of all the pass catchers we have . He looks better than Witten too. Why not put him at tightend. He is 6'2" and 235 I'm guestimating. Size wise hed be our Shannon Sharpe who was an undersized tightend who wound up being in the hall of fame. I really feel Noah Brown would be an excellent tightend. He can also jump high people forget that. I don't know what his vertical was but he can jump. He can be our sixth receiver or just try him at tightend. I'm just really impressed with all the speed we have at receiver. The organization has done a good job. What do you guys feel about the collective speed of the reciever group including Cooper, Gallup and co. and all the undrafted free agents we have?https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...FjAGegQIAhAB&usg=AOvVaw3GRnjEGcVD5HTGKDhadmUw

lots of speed. lots of average to below average WRs. speed doesn't necessarily mean they can get open. unless the only route they try to run is a go route. which then if that's all they do, they get negated because the defense knows. its good to have it, so don't get me wrong, but none of these recievers are ready for a major role. if they have to play a major role, it means we are in trouble with other WRs.

I agree about Austin. have said all along that I could see him getting squeezed out once they drafted pollard. I can also see them keeping him as they tend to hang on to guys they "like". At least its a nice problem to have legit talent to choose from.

Who will return punts?
Reggie Davis is not making the team. Remember last year when they trotted out the over use of Lenoir and we seen how that went.

Austin offers a lot of versatility that Pollard needs to learn yet. They were to try Pollard in TC on punt returns, but have not seen that yet.
Austin most likely stays.

Austin is a virtual lock. If he had an inflated contract I might think otherwise but he’s a lot more versatile than a Wilson or Brown not to mention he has game breaking speed. Austin is a solid 4th WR and PR guy for us and can line up in the slot, out wide or in the backfield.
Austin is always hurt, and Pollard can do what he does.

Noah Brown loses his unique abilities as a Blocking WR if he is converted to TE.

In 2018 defenses played Nickel (2 LBs) or Base (3 LBs) as follows against the Cowboys:
Nickel: Noah Brown, 1 TE, 2 other WRs

Base: 2 TEs, 2 WRs

If defenses play base (3 LBs) with Brown and 1 TE in the game, then Brown is just an undersized TE.

With Brown as the 3rd WR vs Nickel, the Cowboys have a match-up advantage in the run game.
He already blocks LBs

Yes, I'm the one that created and posted video of him blocking LBs...

He blocked a LB against a 2 LB set. That leaves 1 other LB to be blocked and 1 Nickel CB replacing the 3rd LB.

If he blocks a LB against a 3 LB set, then that leaves 2 LBs to be blocked.

So much speed at wr, all pro backup rb, QB missing by inches not feet, backup te doing laps and a route before Witten completes his route, EXCITING!!!

I don’t see where this ‘cut Austin’ campaign is coming from.
Hes the most special , special teams player weve had since well, I cant remember because hes that good of a returner WHEN HEALTHY.. we need his speed on offense in moments but he will be a game changer on STs..add his contract and hes not going anywhere..

I want to limit his offensive snaps because I want him returning punts and kicks as much as possible..dont want him pull up on all those 9 routes he runs lol those glimpses last year and the difference in his return ability to anyone weve had in 10yrs or more was OBVIOUS..

His productivity with the snaps and plays he was given was huge. Prior to the injury, I know he had career highs in yards per reception and it might have been yards per rush as well (but I'd have to check on that).

agreed but it scares me how easy he gets hurt so more snaps makes me cringe..

Guys like Austin when used correctly create fear for DCs which pushes DBs outside the box opening up the run game and keeping defenses guessing.

In Dallas, DCs know that's not how Garrett works as he telegraphs the plays with personnel groups and a tendency to try to run a brute force style of offense. I hope we keep Tavon and Moore moves to a more Mcvay-like offense with Austin playing the role of a 3rd WR.

Prior to last year's injury, Austin's track record for health was actually quite good.

I thought his roster spot might have been tied to his availability in training camp, but thankfully he's stayed healthy and available.

Means nothing.

Get a QB that can actually throw accurate often and has good arm strength. Then we are talking.

With speedy WR's you have to be accurate especially deep or you'll under throw them, throw behind them on crosses ECT. And you have to have the arm strength to get the ball to certain areas.

With our QB we need a bunch or Irvin's or Calvin Johnson's. Bail out WR's

Cooper made th look good, with great route's, and a few bail out catches that otherwise would have been picked off.

You know Dak had the 4th highest deep pass completion percentage last year right?

Seems like he’s more than capable of throwing deep, now it’s just a matter of calling and taking those shots

Johnson, Guyton, Davis, and Smith aren't makiing the team.

And Austin's spot is tenuous.

The receivers will likely be Cooper, Gallup, Cobb, Wilson, Brown, and maybe Austin.

Why is Brown even on this team? Garrett the idiot still likes his WR's that cant get open but can block?

I keep LV and Devon Smith over Brown, Wilson.

noah brown is a large wr. he blocks very well. he runs good routes across the middle. but he has hands of stones. i'd rather keep te mcelroy with the hope he will develop into a good player than keep noah brown. we already know what noah can do.
