No more guarantee than any other employer has after they make you an offer for employment. While you are working for that company you get a weekly check whether you suck at your job or not, right? Same deal.

I work for a corporation that sets certain financial goals and if I don't achieve those goals they can and will replace me with someone who will.

I don't understand why folks are so worried about the owners who are profiting billions every year. They're gonna be okay, I just know it. Players go out and destroy their bodies for a few short years and get tossed to the street when they can no longer do it, so they try to get as much as they can for as long as they can, and no matter what, the owners still turn profits...so what's the problem?
Believe me, I’m no Jerry Jones fan and I don’t support owners blindly but it’s not like these athletes don’t make their own choices. Why should I feel bad for a guy that is making millions, willingly, for playing a game and putting their bodies on the line? There are several more dangerous jobs that people do everyday and get paid pennies compared to these guys.

You know what would settle this, pay them on a yearly basis. One year contracts only and the following season they can go to the next higher bidder if they choose. I don’t understand the point in a contract if it’s not going to be honored. I also don’t like the selfishness that these players, especially Zeke with 2 years left, show by sitting out.

To me, by supporting these guys sitting out and breaking their contracts it seems like you’re supporting the player more than the team, is that right?

Omg. Of course he is offended. His agent is going to play this like D-Law agent did. Hold out as long as you can. Good thing he don’t need a surgery. Of course if he did then he wouldn’t be getting this much money.
I think his agent is sweating, I think he knows he screwed Zeke..

I think Zeke is soon to learn that Jerry is a big fish in the ocean and he is nothing more than a baitfish ready to get swallowed
I would LOVE that but I don’t think there’s a snowballs chance in hell that will happen.

Has there ever been another player in the NFL that has held out in the 3rd year if there rookie deal. I don’t care if he is the best at his position and out played his contract. Most players that get paid big money have put played there deal. D-Law May have put played his contract. Him and his agent played a little dirty pool by holding his surgery over his head.

"Babies" would be truly being emotional about this but this is just an orchestrated ploy to keep this in the press. It's not foolish. It guarantees that Jerry, Stephen and whomever else will continue to get asked about negotiations by the press. Will that speed up negotiations? Maybe not but it can't hurt.

It's stupid, I think they're sweating.

I don’t begrudge players who hold out. It’s a reasonable negotiating tactic.

But it definitely seems like this was a bad tactical decision by Zeke’a team.

Agreed. I love Zeke as a player and he should get his money, but not like this.

Some of us see this for what it is which is negotiation posturing. The people that don't see this, i.e., the anti-Zekes, are the ones causing the emotional commotion thinking the agent's comments are 100% serious and are now "offended" by it. It's like I mention elsewhere that if people have something against someone, anything they can see as negative against that person they will.
It goes both ways, I see just about as many posts criticizing Jerry for his comment. Perhaps that was just “negotiation posturing” and it seemed to have worked. I promise you Zeke feels disrespected or he wouldn’t be sitting out in the first place.

Yup. And what makes it look especially bad is the fact Dak and Cooper showed up.

It was a horrible decision by Zeke and his reps. No Doubt if he shows up Jerry probably throws a blank check at him. lol He would've definitely surpassed what he will currently get because of this move.

Think whatever you want about Zeke and his holdout but the statement from Jerry was disrespectful and unprofessional coming from a man of his standing. Zeke has kept his mouth pretty firmly shut throughout this process, letting his agent handle the negotiation. Jerry needs to do the same.

No it wasn't. He even followed it up with he doesn't want Polllard to replace Zeke. Zeke needs to stop being weak.

You think so? I don't. This isn't anyone's first negotiating rodeo. Both sides know how this works but they'll get a deal done and this stuff will be considered just part of the process.

Jerry is your drunk country uncle that never knows how to shut up, And likes to air out everyone's business.

Zeke put his business out there when he chose to holdout 2 years early.did he think nobody would talk about it or ask about? It's one of the biggest news story in the NFL.

I know this was brought up on Cowboys Zone before, but Jerry probably felt betrayed when Zeke held out. During Zeke's suspension Jerry basically stood up and took on the entire NFL on his behalf. And now Zeke is throwing a contract worth more than $50 million back in his face.

You do realize the owners agreed to allow players to do this right?
